Funny Friday
The horse reared and the cowboy drew his six-gun to shoot the snake. "Hold on there, partner," said the snake, "don't shoot - I'm an enchanted rattlesnake, and if you don't shoot me, I'll give you any three wishes you want."
The cowboy decided to take a chance. He knew he was safely out of the snake's striking range. He said, "Okay, first, I'd like to have a face like Clark Gable, then, I'd like a build like Arnold Schwarzenegger, and finally, I'd like sexual equipment like this here horse I'm riding."
The rattlesnake said, "All right, when you get back to the bunk house you'll have all three wishes." The cowboy turned his horse around and galloped at full speed all the way to the bunk house. He dismounted on the run and went straight inside to the mirror.
Staring back at him in the mirror was the face of Clark Gable. He ripped the shirt off his back and revealed bulging, rippling muscles, just like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Really excited now, he tore down his jeans, looked at his crotch and shouted, "Oh my God, I was riding the mare!"
Be careful what you wish for!
Have a great weekend. I know I am!

Why Start in the Round Pen?
By Clinton Anderson
Round penning is a great tool when it comes to training horses because you can get the horse to use the thinking side of his brain without over stressing him, making the learning process as easy as possible for both you and the horse. Below, I’ve highlighted several advantages of the round pen and why no matter what stage of training your horse is in, he can always benefit from round pen training.
Teaches your horse to catch you. Before you can train a horse, you have to be able to catch him. If you can’t catch him, you can’t teach him anything. I like my horses to be able to basically catch me. Meaning that they give me two eyes, yield their hindquarters and face me. Then I can put the halter on them and get on with the lesson. If you can’t catch your horse very well, how is the rest of the lesson going to go? Not good because the horse is always going to be trying to avoid you or running away from you showing you two heels.
You are not connected to the horse.Anytime you are connected to a horse through a halter and lead rope, you’re a lot closer to him. The closer you are to a horse, the more vulnerable of a position you are in. If a horse goes to kick at you, run over you, or do something disrespectful, the chances of you getting hurt are a lot higher since he’s close to you. I always recommend that people with dominant and disrespectful horses start out in the round pen for that reason. The round pen puts a little bit of distance between you and the horse. By working the horse off line, I can stay a little further back and still be able to establish the basic fundamentals.
Gets the horse’s feet moving. In order to get a horse’s respect, you have to move his feet forwards, backwards, left and right and always reward the slightest try. The more you can move your horse’s feet forwards, backwards, left and right, the more respect you’ll get. The more the horse moves your feet forwards, backwards, left and right, the pushier and more disrespectful he will become. A lot of horses that are pushy and heavy can’t actually canter with a halter and lead rope around you without dragging you off your feet. But in the round pen since the horse isn’t connected to a line, he can canter. The round pen fence will keep him on the circle, not you. When you free up a horse’s feet and get him to move forward, his mind frees up as well and his resistance disappears.

On The Road Again
We love to go and ride a new mountain range every year, this ride has been in the works for nearly a year. My friend Celia lined it all up, she introduced me to a cowboy singer Dave Stamey a California cowboy that is one of the best song writers I have ever listened too.
We will pack in and be in the back country for a week. Great friends, breathtaking scenery, a good mount and of course I am taking my comfortable Burns Saddlery custom saddle. Campfires at night, sharing stories and listening to Dave Stamey sing around the campfire, pinch me I must be dreaming.
Experiencing life at the fullest, all senses ALIVE and ALERT, AMAZING, simply AMAZING!! I wish everyone the opportunity to go immerse yourself in something that you love with people that inspire you living that life you have imagined.

When I buy a book it in a way buys me, I try to feel what I am drawn to, or sometimes I buy a book because of a recommendation, I also have favorite authors that when they release a book, I anticipate it's launch because I enjoy their writing style, and love to read their thoughts.
If you read my blogs, or know me personally you know my favorite subject in reading is Self Development. My motto I picked up from Tony Robins is Constant And Never Ending Improvement, yes, I practice CANEI.
Through this search for excellence I have studied and researched some of the greatest minds ever to hit the planet. I am in awe at how powerful the mind is and I marvel and seek to learn how the great avatars guide their minds into greatness.
Neale Donald Walsh sends me a thought everyday, I have been amazed how helpful, and thought provocative they are, so when I saw his latest book, somewhat out of respect I purchased it.
This week was the beginning of a new era for me, I turned 50! I had some time to read late in the afternoon and I was lead to Neale's new book, for whatever reason it had set and waited just the right amount of time for me.
I study the Law of Attraction and consciously use it everyday, I did not know that this book contained useful information about the subject I had never read before. He makes some very good points about the subject.
Kara D. Lane said in her review.
Neale notes that what is missing from all the current talk about the Law of Attraction (due to the success of The Secret) is God.
He explains that some people have misinterpreted the Law to mean you should put all your faith in yourself - in other words, you don't need God.
All you've got to do is use the power of your thoughts to attract to you whatever you want.
In this book, he explains God's role in the process of personal creation.
He notes that the ability to create your reality is an expression of God.
He says the process really has 3 parts: the first has to do with God, the second has to do with you, and the third with you and God together.
He then expounds on how personal creation really works.
He also indicates that the law of attraction works most effectively and creates greater happiness when you focus first on helping others and then on yourself.
He notes this is true because when you focus on yourself, you limit the amount of energy you send out into the Universe, because there's only one of you. When you focus on others, you multiply the amount of energy you output by the number of others you focus on.
And, since we are all connected, you benefit as well as the people you help.
He concludes the book by providing 17 steps to being truly happy. A few examples are: - Eliminate any thought of separation from God - Decide that you are not your story - Bypass the drama - Drop all expectations
This is a very powerful book that I would recommend to anyone wishing to experience happiness within a spiritual context!
I have truly been inspired by this book and highly recommend it.
Namaste,

Long rides, wet saddle pads, and concentrated training:
The three elements to a great horse.
By Clinton Anderson
In order for a horse to be well-balanced, he must get an equal dose of all three elements.
It’s no good to have only one or two.
For example, race horses get lots of wet saddle pads, but no long rides or concentrated training. I’ve seen trail riding horses go on ten mile long rides but come back with not a drop of sweat on them because all they did was walk the whole time.
And I’ve seen plenty of show horses that had lots of wet saddle pads and concentrated training, but never stepped foot outside the arena for any long rides.

Then the Scotsman says, "Aye, this is a nice bar, but where I come from, back in Glasgow, there's a better one.

The others agree that sounds like a good place.
Then the American says, "Yeah, that's a nice bar, but where I come from, there's a better one. Over in Brooklyn, there's this place, Vinny's. At Vinny's, you buy a drink, Vinny buys you a drink.
You buy another drink, Vinny buys you another drink."Everyone agrees that sounds like a great bar.
Then the Irishman says, "You think that's great?
Where I come from in Dublin, there's this place called Murphy's.
At Murphy's, they buy you your first drink, they buy you your second drink, they buy you your third drink, and then, they take you in the back and get you laid!""Wow!" say the other two. "That's fantastic! Did that actually happen to you?"
"No," replies the Irish guy, "but it happened to me sister!"

Respect and the Hula-Hoop Space
Respect is broken up into two categories, a safety category and a learning category. When I refer to the safety category of respect I’m talking about the personal hula hoop space. The personal hula hoop space is a four foot circle that surrounds you and serves as your safety zone. Whenever I’m working with a horse, I always imagine that there’s a four foot circle drawn around me—almost like an invisible electric fence. Unless I invite the horse into my personal hula hoop space, he should keep a respectful safe distance from me.
Think about all the times people get hurt by horses. The horse bites them, kicks them, strikes them, runs over the top of them, etc. Each time a person gets hurt, the horse is always inside their personal hula hoop space. You can’t be injured if the horse is kept outside of that four foot circle. Think about this—a horse can’t bite you if he is four feet away from you. He can’t kick you if his hind leg doesn’t get any closer than four feet to you.
Keep in mind that a disrespectful horse isn’t the only type of horse that will hurt you, because a fearful horse will hurt you just as fast. Have you ever noticed that when you’re leading a nervous or frightened horse that when something scares him he tries to jump on top of you? He pushes into you and invades your personal hula hoop space. He tries to jump in your top pocket doesn’t he? He’s looking to you for safety, but unfortunately, you’re a lot more fragile and smaller than he is. And eventually, you will get hurt. A fearful horse will hurt you just as fast as a disrespectful one will. I don’t care if my horse has a heart attack and gets scared; I just want him to do it outside of my personal hula hoop space.
The first part of respect is to teach the horse that you are fragile and that he needs to be careful around you. When a horse kicks another horse in the belly what does that horse do? He grunts, walks away, and starts eating grass again like nothing ever happened. It doesn’t really bother him. But, if we get kicked in the ribs by a horse, we’re in the hospital for a week with seven broken ribs. It’s the same kick, but it means a lot more to us because we’re smaller creatures. We’re 140 to 200 pounds and horses are 1000 to 1200 pounds. They’re a lot bigger than us. The safety part of respect is to say, “Listen, take care of me. I’m pretty fragile, so you can’t be biting me and kicking me or playing rough around me.” When a thousand pound animal tries to play with us we come out on the wron! g end of the deal.
Happy Trails,
Big Barrel Race this weekend at the Blackhawk Arena, hope to see you there!

I saw this quote and thought, this is so true. When we finally get so sick of the life story we keep writing over and over, then and only then will we re-write the story with different thoughts, dreams and desires. They say a habit is 30 million times stronger than a desire, so I decided to start daily habits of directing my mind to my desires. It takes 30 days to formulate a habit, so keep going. We can choose strenghting or weaking habits, my goal is to replace a weaking habit with a strengthening habit everyday. So instead of drinking coffee, my new habit is water or green tea. I replaced drinking sodas with a glass of red wine. Twice a day I take my vitamin supplements, I miss very rarely, I don't leave the house without making my bed, I never use to make it

Correct Your Horse's Sorry Attitude at the Feed Bin with the Outback Exercise
By Clinton Anderson
Horses by nature are programmed to be dominant around food. If horses in the wild don't fight for their fair share of food, they'll die. It's the survival of the fittest; the strongest, most dominant animals survive and the weaker animals die. It's your job to get your horse respectful towards you and establish yourself as the leader whether food is involved or not. Every time you go to feed your horse and he pins his ears at you or gets pushy and disrespectful, and you dump the feed and run out of his space, you're encouraging his behavior.
One of the best exercises to do with a horse that develops bad behavior at feeding time is backing. Most of these horses will pin their ears and try to force you out of their space by running you off. Well, backing is the complete opposite of that, instead of the horse running forward toward you, he has to back away from you. It's best to work with your horse in a round pen where you'll have room to move his feet and stay in a safe position. I don't recommend correcting his behavior in a stall until you've gotten the situation under control in the round pen first because the small space makes it easy for you to get hurt.
Place a bucket of grain on the ground in the middle of the round pen. Then use the Outback Exercise to back the horse away from you and the bucket of grain.
Ideally, you should just have to wiggle the lead rope to back the horse away, but if he's really disrespectful, you'll have to wave the Handy Stick in front of his chest or even tap his chest to get him to back out of your space and away from the grain. Then draw the horse back up to you by combing the rope with your hands. Don't let the horse come up to you unless he has a pleasant expression on his face.
He shouldn't have his ears flattened against his head or be barring his teeth like he wants to kill you to get to the grain. If he comes up to you aggressively, immediately back him out of your space again. Of course, a horse that has been disrespectful for a long time isn't going to automatically change his attitude and smile and prick his ears at you when you back him away from the feed. However, if you keep working at it, his behavior will get better. In the beginning, you're just looking for small changes. By practicing backing your horse away from the feed and then bringing him back, over and over again, he will learn to focus on you and not focus on the feed.
Happy Trails,
Danna

Oh, not my body!
I sometime despair over my body, the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt.
And often I am taken a back by that old person that lives in my mirror (who looks like my father!), but I don't agonize over those things for long..
I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly.
As I've aged, I've become more kind to myself, and less critical of myself.
I've become my own friend.
I don't chide myself for eating that extra chocolate, or for not making my bed,
I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.
I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.
Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon ? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 & 70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love .. I will.
I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.
They, too, will get old.
I know I am sometimes forgetful.. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten.
And I eventually remember the important things.
Sure, over the years my heart has been broken.
How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car?
But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion.
A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.
I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face.
So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver
As you get older, it is easier to be positive.
You care less about what other people think.
I don't question myself anymore..
I've even earned the right to be wrong.
So, to answer your question, I like being old.
It has set me free.
I like the person I have become.
I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be.
And I shall eat chocolate every single day. (If I feel like it)
My friend Deb sent me this, will be riding the Sierra Nevada's together next month, adding more memories and lines to our faces.

We go through a life of relationships, parents, siblings, spouses, and friends, if your full of great fortune you have good relationships with each of them. If you are really lined up you get to meet and become dear friends with someone like Celia Snow.
I met Celia 5 years ago when another wonderful friend M'Recia invited me to ride with her and some friends. From the moment I first saw her I was in awe. This lady is PURE 100% COWGIRL! Well I should say this lifetime, one of her past lifetimes she had to be an Indian Princess or Sacajawea herself.
We usually ride mules just to add more adventure, however this time she took pity on me and loaned me a new mount a 17 year old gray mare. How appropriate for me:-) I ain't what I used to be either!
The Boulder Mountain is one of the many common loves we share. Two women camping, exploring dessert canyons, finding cool rocks, star gazing with constellation charts, laying on our backs watching clouds, and campfire stories both past and future. Bird watching with binoculars, stopping along the trail to photograph the perfect dessert rose in peak bloom. Pulling out flower books to search for a new flower, total amercement into nature. Sounds like 3rd graders.! She did read and gift me with a children's book about greeting the Sun.
I love to get up and greet and give thanks to the incredible energy that unconditionally shines on the whole, no matter your race, religion, or background, on Wednesday morning on the Boulder mountain I witnessed the second most beautiful sunrise of my life.
Celia is a trail blazer, she gets her maps out and knows there is other ways in and out of these rugged areas. The trails this ride were gentle in Celia's standards, no jumping up or off any cliff's, no crossing rivers you can't see the bottom on, no teetering off 2 foot shell ledges. Just perfect weather, perfect mountains and red rocks all appreciated over a cold beverage and wood smoke.
Celia is truly amazing, fearless, yet soft, adventurous, and compassionate, she is a wonderful mentor and TRUE friend. Her home is filled with cowboy treasures, both new and old. So tasteful in both dress and decor. Her love for the Native American is evident in her jewelry and treasured Indian Doll collection.
I am truly blessed to have a friend to share these amazing adventures with, my Zen Horse Friend, Celia Snow. (Jumps Off Mules).

Damn Amazing Stuff
IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING THE ADVERSITIES SOME PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO OVERCOME.
In a Chinese modern dance competition on TV, one very unique couple won one of the top prizes. The lady in her 30's was a dancer who had trained since she was a little girl. Later in life, she lost her entire left arm in an accident and fell into a state of depression for a few years.
Someone then asked her to coach a Children's dancing group. From that point on, she realized that she could not forget dancing. She still loved to dance and wanted to dance again. So, she started to do some of her old routines; but, having lost her arm, she had also lost her balance.
It took a while before she could even make simple turns and spins without falling. Then she heard of a man in his 20's who had lost a leg in an accident. He had also fallen into the usual denial, depression and anger type of emotional roller coaster. But she was determined to find him and persuade him to dance with her. He had never danced, and to dance with one leg....are you joking with me? "No way!"
But she didn't give up and he reluctantly agreed thinking...."I have nothing else to do anyway." She started to teach him dancing. The two broke up a few times because he had no concept of using muscle, how to control his body and knew none of the basic things about dancing. When she became frustrated and lost patience with him, he would walk out. Eventually, they came back together and started training seriously.
They hired a choreographer to design routines for them. She would fly high (held by him) with both arms (a sleeve for an arm) flying in the air. He could bend horizontally supported by one leg with herleaning on him, etc.
In the competition, as you will see, they dance beautifully and they legitimately won the competition. When I watched this, I didn't even realize that she was missing an arm because I was focusing on the guy with only one leg.
Really quite amazing!

Fathers Day is always bittersweet for me. I lost my Dad in 1988 after a short painful 2 month stint with cancer. He was not only my Dad but was my boss and friend. We spent everyday together either working at the store or traveling watching the race horses he loved. My Dad was legendary for having fun!
His fearless sense of adventure was incredible. He taught me to love the mountains, deserts, horses, fishing, camping, boating, skiing, all types of sports and just living life to the fullest.
I had to grow some emotional muscle instantly, pull up my boot straps and carry on. He left big boots to fill. His personal legend lives on with Burns Saddlery, his race horse lines that are now being shown by his granddaughters as top barrel racing bloodlines, many trails still remain in the mountains with his unique signature on the aspen trees.
Appreciation feels my heart for the opportunity to have been raised by a father full of adventure and a zest to experience all aspects of life.
Gratitude also for my husband Scott who truly is the best father and grandfather I have ever known.
Happy Fathers Day to all Dad's you truly make a difference in all our lives.

Every day you wake, know that your life is shaped by your experiences, your thoughts, your beliefs, and your actions. In the same light, your life is limited by each of those as well. Now imagine you can press a reset button and drain your mind and spirit of all past mistakes; political, social, and religious bias; and negative beliefs and experiences. Start seeing yourself and your world through the eyes of child — with wonder and amazement. Gregg Braden helps you re-focus your beliefs. Discover the most powerful force in our universe...
We live our lives based on what we believe about the world, ourselves, our capabilities, and our limits. With few exceptions, those beliefs come from what science, history, religion, and other people tell us.
What if those beliefs are wrong?
Historically, we have been taught that we are passive observers in the universe and that we are governed by the “rules” of time, space, and our DNA. It is precisely these beliefs that often leave us feeling powerless in the face of life’s greatest challenges.
What if we are limited only until we change the way we see ourselves in the world? How differently would we live if we discovered that we are born with the power to choose the reality of our world, how healthy we are, and even how long we live?
Such a radical discovery would change everything about the way we see ourselves! It is also precisely what the leading-edge science of today is showing us.
Gregg Braden's writings stimulate thought, this forward thinking spiritual scientist , got my attention about six years ago, I have read several of his books, listened to him speak in a conference, and enjoy his Science meets Spirituality concepts. His new works The Spontaneous Healing of Belief and Fractal Time are my next reads.
If your looking for mind expansion and want to delve into limitless possibilities, read Braden.

Dream Big
We are a giant magnet, Rhonda is right. I started reading and studying the law of attraction 6 years ago, however I knew thoughts, feelings, and actions were important from riding horses at a young age.
Horses seemed to know how I felt. If I was nervous they became nervous. If I was calm they remained calm. Horses have extra sensory perception. So while I was around them I would alter my attitude to accommodate the desires I wished to obtain.
When competing when I was excited, my horse became excited. People often say, my horse knows my name. When they call your name to enter the arena your horse gets all excited. Your thoughts and anticipation transfer to your horse and he reacts.
You can learn a lot about your thoughts through a horse. Before getting on the horse you can learn a lot about what type of ride your going to have by how the horse acts on the ground. If he is disrespectful or fearful you better spend some time on the ground and work out those issues, or you will experience a very uncomfortable ride.
Many people get hurt on horses because they don't take the necessary time to neutralize the mind of the horse before they swing on, they think they can just ride it out of them, when taking a extra few minutes before swinging on to observe your horse and work through his fear and dis respectfulness can prevent an accident.
Dream Big!!!!
Thoughts become things. If you don't know how the law of attraction works, go rent the movie "The Secret".
Thanks Rhonda for putting together this great movie, I gave away 26 copies when I first saw it. I wanted everyone to know about it. Get your copy today, or re watch the one you have. Your dreams are just a thought away.
With much appreciation,

On The Road Again
A soggy Utah State High School Rodeo Finals, created quite a challenge for the contestants as well as the vendors. Day after day the skies turned loose on the fairgrounds at Heber City Utah. Congratulations to all those who faired the elements to qualify for nationals.
Randi and I stayed dry and warm at the Cowboy Shop in Park City where the 125th anniversary of city hood took place, unfortunately it was cut short because of the intense thunder storms that continue to roll through this beautiful mountain resort town.
I am home this week, thinking however of hitting the road and run over to Jackson Hole, or Colorado to check out a couple of business ventures.
Heaven forbid I stayed home cleaned the house and took a day off.
Doing what I love and loving what I do, finding new adventures.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
1 lb. lean ground beef
4 drops Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. crushed oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
6 hamburger buns, split
1. In a large bowl, combine the beef, Worcestershire, oregano, salt and pepper. Mix well and form the meat into 6 patties. When the coals are hot and evenly distributed, place the burgers in the center of the grill and set the buns, open-face down, to the outside edge. As soon as the buns are toasted, flip the burgers and place a bun top on each. This will help the meat cook through while the bread soaks up juices. Serves 6. Set out with your favorite condiments.

President Bush answers, "We're getting ready to kill 40 million Iraqi's and one blonde.

Zen Horse
Get all of the kinks out of your horse on the ground, so that when you get on, you won’t run into problems.
All the problems a horse can have come from two causes: a lack of respect or fear (or both).
By following a groundwork program, you address both causes: the sensitizing exercises earn respect from the horse and the desensitizing exercises eliminate the fear.
By eliminating those causes on the ground, it prevents you from having to deal with them under saddle.
Any trouble you run into when you ride is usually proof of lack of preparation on the ground.

Dream Big
You always have a reason--and usually, a pretty good one--
for doing what you are doing and choosing what you are
choosing. Be careful not to convince yourself that you are
doing something against your will. Such a thing is impossible.
Therefore, be honest with yourself as to why you are choosing
to do a particular thing. Then, do it gladly, knowing that you
are always getting to do what you want. The statement "I have
no choice" is a lie. You can choose. You simply do not prefer
the alternatives available to you, for whatever reason. So you
select the outcome that you most prefer. Isn't that power?
Neale Donald Walsh sent me this, wanted to share.
All of life's outcomes begin with a thought, a vision, and a dream, directing your mind in the direction of what you want creates that, constantly feeling like a victim will give you more circumstances to play that role.
" Dream Big!" feel the feeling as if you already have what you are desiring, this is a feeling Universe, direct your feelings to that which you desire, feel how it will feel once you manifest it. Always feel good. Your dream depends on it.

On The Road Again
What fun it is to get together with all the barrel racers from around the west, sharing a common love of this great sport.
Destiny (my daughter) had good and bad luck, Friday she hit barrels on one horse to win big, and her other horse ended up 11th out of 771 runners. Saturday was her day she ended up 4th and 7th in the 1D with 805 runners. 2 horses in the top ten with over 800 way to go Destiny.
Barrel Racing is a humbling sport as Sunday brought more down barrels, but appreciation for the nearly $3000 she netted over the weekend.
On the road this morning hauling all the goods to Heber City Utah for the Utah State High School Rodeo Finals. Unload this trailers inventory into the two trailer two tent set up and be ready for business tomorrow.
Busy, busy, busy... Las Vegas last week, Heber City this week, Reno Rodeo next week. Oh throw in Fathers Day for both Salina and Park City stores.
Laundry could be an issue this next while. Glad I have someone to mow the lawns. Oh well many don't have a job or a home, I have two of each.:-)

(1850-1919)
LAUGH, and the world laughs with you;
Weep, and you weep alone.
For the sad old earth must borrow it's mirth,
But has trouble enough of it's own. Sing,
and the hills will answer;
Sigh, it is lost on the air.
The echoes bound to a joyful sound,
But shrink from voicing care.
Rejoice, and men will seek you;
Grieve, and they turn and go.
They want full measure of all your pleasure,
But they do not need your woe.
Be glad, and your friends are many;
Be sad, and you lose them all.
There are none to decline your nectared wine,
But alone you must drink life's gall.
Feast, and your halls are crowded;
Fast, and the world goes by.
Succeed and give,
and it helps you live,
But no man can help you die.
There is room in the halls of pleasure
For a long and lordly train,
But one by one we must all file on
Through the narrow aisles of pain.
I love this poem, the title of this poem could easily be attitude.
Laugh and the world laughs with you is a true statement. Everyone enjoys being around a positive person, their vibration resonates with joy and has a uplifting effect on everyone.
Energy field theory says that there is an invisible vibratory field of energy surrounding all living objects, including human beings. This field is created by how we think and process our experiences. At certain levels of consciousness, the energy field vibrates fast. At other levels of consciousness, the energy vibrates slow. These fields of energy we encounter daily.
I remember going into castles in Europe where the energy fields from thousands of years ago still existed. Entering the torture chambers of these properties made me sick and It felt labours to breath.
We all know people that we avoid because they suck the life right out of us. Their low vibration of consciousness can be felt and my instinct is to get away from them.
People that love what they do and live life to the fullest inspire me, they give me all kinds of physical energy while I am in there presence. Gratitude flows through them and into me. We all encounter both energies daily, I am happy to have the awareness not to judge, just observe and chose a higher energy field.

I went to the film this past week and found it to be very thought provoking keeping your mind constantly in the flow of the movie. The scenes of Rome, the Vatican, and the ancient archives were incredibly depicted. Tom Hanks has had better performances, but it is hard to top his mastery in Forrest Gump and Castaway. It makes you think about organized religions influence and power over the world, especially the magnitude of the Roman Catholic Church.
I look forward to reading the book, the reviews above are great referrals.

Funny Friday
The ambassador was so enthralled by the beauty and presence of this secretary that he asked her to marry him.
The secretary was startled, but remembered that her boss told her never to insult foreign dignitaries, so she decided to let him down easy.
"I'll only marry you under three conditions.""Anything, anything," said the ambassador.
"First, you must buy me a 14-karat gold wedding band with a 72 carat diamond, along with a 28 inch studded matching necklace for our engagement.
"Without hesitation, the ambassador picked up his cellular phone, called his personal accountant, told him the instructions, and said, "Yes, yes, I buy, I buy!"
The secretary thought that her first request was too easy, so she thought of a more difficult situation.
"Second, I want you to build me a 58-acre mansion in the richest part of the Hamptons along with a 40-acre summer home in the sweetest vineyards of France.
" The ambassador picked up his phone, called his personal broker in New York, then called another broker in France, and after his quick conversation, he said, "Yes, yes, I build, I build!" The secretary was very startled, and knew she must think of a final request that would be impossible to live up to.
"Finally," she said. "I'll only marry you if you have a 10-inch penis."A sad face befell the ambassador, and he cupped his face in his hands.
After weeping in his native language for a few minutes, the ambassador slowly lifted his head and said, "Ok, ok, I cut, I cut!"
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it all!

Zen Horse
Zen points directly to ones heart, and Zen Horse for me is the connection between the heart of the person and the heart of the horse. The person I am featuring today certainly has a Zen connection with horses, you know, she really has a positive connection with everything.
This connector was born June 4th 1981 at 2:38 pm on a beautiful summer day, her hair was long and black and from the moment I held her, I knew she was someone unbelievably special. She was my Destiny and so her name was given.
Destiny loved horses from conception. If I was around a horse while I was pregnant with her I could feel her excitement inside me.
Riding at a very young age, she never complained and never wanted to get off. She helped my father raise a colt off a bottle when she was pre-school age and later would train it to be one of the best horses we ever owned.
Her grandfather on my husbands side, Wayland continued fueling her passion for the horse by riding in the hills and hauling her to 4-H shows.
Despite a serious injury on a horse that took a year of healing and 3 surgeries to save her foot the thought of riding her horses again was the driving force of her rehabilitation.
We knew this was her life purpose, her personal legend was on the back a horse. We sent her to many different trainers, she was taught many different disciplines of riding but her favorite was barrel racing. I wanted her to be a rodeo queen which she was, but all she could think of was going fast!
Race horses have been in my family since the 60's so mounts came easy, training these race horses right off the track not so easy. Destiny with her gentle mannerisms provided a calmness to these high strung animals.
By the age 13 she was winning 1st division national championships on horses she had trained, amazing accomplishment for a young girl her age.
Her junior year in high school she won almost $40,000 in futurities, three champion titles and many top 5's in a sport that is hard to win one.
Always working on the next great prospect she started selling horses that provided her good income to continue training and maintaining the rest of the herd.
Scott and I hauled her all over the United States, memories were made in arena's across the west. I watched this skinny little weak girl that loved horses evolve into a accomplished horsewoman on a mission.
The mission however was never to chase the competition, it was always to make a positive experience for the horse. Her ability to heal these horses became efficient as she would listen intently to the vets while they worked on her horses, asking questions and charting what worked and didn't work.
At 16 she hooked up the horse trailer by herself and that day drove to Heber City to the high school rodeo finals. At that same age she started doing acupuncture on her own horses, and could main line all of them.
Scott being a race horse trainer taught Destiny so many things. She always listened and wanted to learn more. I was amazed how quick she learned and how well she retained the information.
Now she is a mother to my perfect grandchildren, she runs our barrel racing association Horse Events Inc. and oversees all operations. She continues to ride, train, and compete as a top contestant in her sport.
Last year Destiny started a new quest as a equine therapist, she certified in Acuscope and myopulse use. Wanting the knowledge just to help her own horses has quickly grown to scores of people searching her out to help them with their horse's ailments. This month she will finish additional training which will make her completely certified to also work on humans. The results she has received are incredible in both horses and humans. I believe not only in the instruments but I believe in her as a healer, she truly has a gift to heal.
Her example inspires me, I am so proud of her for the person she is and the positive light she is on the world.
Destiny turns 28 today, she has accomplished much in those short years, I smile where she will be in the ones that follow.
Happy Birthday to the best Horseman/woman I know, and I know many.
Love.

On The Road Again
We rode the water pocket fold out on the Sandy Ranch in South Eastern Utah, OMG how beautiful and remarkable this country is. I came away with a deeper love and appreciation for life!
My youngest daughter Tegan graduated high school on Friday night YAHOO!!!!
Scott, Rylan (my Grandson) and I headed back early Saturday morning to work at Park City. Slept in my bed one night,
I had all the fun and adventure four days prior riding mules up dangerous canyons, brought my body home intact just to find my husband Scott couldn't walk, apparently he pulled his groyne at horse show last week, liked it so much he pulled it again in Park City going down the stairs and instantly became disabled.
I now know why women have the babies. If you know our bunch, the show must go on, so I unpacked, did 8 batches of laundry, repacked, drove to Salina, got in with my daughter and son in law and headed to Las Vegas.
This week we are setting up and selling at the big barrel race held at the beautiful South Point Equestrian Center in Las Vegas Nevada. My daughter competes so we have a trailer of product and a trailer of horses at this event. My Son and his family are heading to Nashville Tennessee then on to NYC.
Ask us what we do in our spare time.

Inspire Me
Courage is a very special human quality — and some would say it’s becoming increasingly rare.
Courage is the trait the ancient Greeks held to be the foundation of all other virtues. What's the difference between an average leader and a great leader? Between an average parent and an outstanding one? Between a worker who steps up in all situations and one who hides in the background? The difference is courage.
What makes some people crack under pressure — whether in warfare or business — while others seem to push themselves past their limits? Courage, or the lack thereof.
Finally, why is it that some people challenge themselves to the limit — they even attempt the impossible — while others never get off the sofa? You should know the answer by now.
Courage is often understood to have two categories: physical and moral. Physical courage is the willingness to face serious risk to life or limb instead of fleeing from it. Moral courage is the firmness of spirit that faces danger or difficulty without flinching or retreating. The Civil War General William T. Sherman understood courage in almost mathematical terms. He said, “Courage is awareness of the true measure of danger, and the mental willingness to endure it.”
John Wayne put it more simply: “Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway.”
Courage has been the mark of class acts throughout history, and that’s not going to change anytime soon. Confronted with the same choices, some people stand up to accept the challenge, while others shrink away.
What about you? Do you feel courageous? Of necessity, a discussion of courage must also be a discussion of fear.
The Greek philosopher Aristotle made this point more two thousand years ago. Courage is not the absence of fear, but how you react to it.
Faced with a charging lion or a maxed-out charge card, two people may both feel fear. But the courageous individual takes on the challenge, while the other does nothing. Courage still matters — more than we think.
Without courage, everything becomes fragile.
Winston Churchill called courage "the first of human qualities, because it guarantees all the others." That's what we mean by the courage of our convictions.
If we lack the courage to hold on to our beliefs in the moment of their testing, not just when they accord with those of others but also when they go against threatening opposition, then our beliefs mean nothing.
Courage doesn’t always need to express itself in wars, Arctic expeditions, or climbing mountains. Joining a fitness club can be an act of courage if you’ve gotten out of shape.
In your career, you can display courage by fighting for an idea or a project you believe in, even if others don't agree with you.
The point is this: Courage is an energy that manifests in our everyday lives by helping us control our fears. Even if fear is not completely overcome, it no longer holds dominion over our actions. We still feel fear, but how we react to that fear can demonstrate courage to the world.
Of all the infinite varieties of fear, probably the most dangerous in the modern world is the fear of failure. Most of us are no longer faced with life-threatening adversaries. But we are faced with issues that can ruin our financial life, or the life of our careers. Very often that kind of fear boils down to a simple question: How does the possibility of success stack up against the risk of failure? Anyone who has ever wanted something badly enough in life has experienced the fear that comes with the possibility of failing. The greater the potential achievement, the greater the fear can be.
I took this off the monthly newsletter of Nightingale Conant. I felt compelled to share.
When I moved to Park City and opened up my new dream shop, I had to face many fears, the biggest was my fear of failure. It takes a lot of courage to live life to the fullest, growing emotional muscle will help you find courage. I decided to take the dice and roll, expecting to hit double sixes. No matter where the dice lands I am glad I rolled.

Funny Friday
Tonight, I thought my husband was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a bar to have a drink.
I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment on it.
Conversation wasn't flowing, so I suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk.
He agreed, but he didn't say much. I asked him what was wrong;he said, "Nothing."
I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset.
He said he wasn't upset, that it had nothing to do with me, and not to worry about it.
On the way home, I told him that I loved him.
He smiled slightly, and kept driving.
I can't explain his behavior.
I don't know why but he didn't say he loved me, too.
When we got home, I felt as if I had lost him completely, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore.
He just sat there quietly, and watched TV.
He continued to seem distant and absent.
Finally, with silence all around us, I decided to go to bed.
About 15minutes later, he came to bed.
To my surprise, he responded to my caress, and we made love.
But I still felt that he was distracted, and his thoughts were somewhere else.
He fell asleep - I cried.
I don't know what to do.
I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else.
My life is a disaster.
His Diary:
Harley wouldn't start today -- I can't figure it out, but at least I got laid.

ZEN HORSE
Training Tip of the Week:
Stopping a Grass Snatcher
If your horse snatches at grass on the trail, he’s telling you that you don’t have enough control over him. Instead of focusing his attention on you, he’s too busy eyeing up his next snack. Fixing the problem is easy enough, you just have to be a better leader for him and take control of the situation. How can you be a better leader for your horse? By moving his feet forwards, backwards, left and right and always rewarding the slightest try. You’ll correct your horse’s unwanted behavior by making the right thing easy and the wrong thing difficult. When you go to correct your horse, don’t think “How can I stop him from eating on the trail?” instead, think “How can I make it uncomfortable! for him to eat grass?”
Let him commit to the mistake.Even though you know that your horse is going to try to grab a mouth full of grass, don’t baby-sit him by having a tight hold on the reins. Instead, put him on a loose rein and dare him to try to grab a snack. When he does, immediately correct him by moving his feet forwards, backwards, left and right. Constantly moving the horse’s feet and changing directions will get him to focus his attention back on you and use the thinking side of his brain. Although it doesn’t matter how you move the horse’s feet, as long as you do so with energy, one of the easiest ways to get the horse moving is by doing a series of serpentines or constantly circling and changing directions. Let the horse know that he doesn’t have time to be eating grass because he’s too busy listening to you and moving his feet. Work the horse for five or ten minutes – until you feel that he’s huffing and puffing and! wanting to stop. This doesn’t work if you let the horse eat for five minutes, and then barely get him to move. If you let him drag his feet, he’ll be too busy chewing on the grass and dreaming about fairies to pay any attention to you. After you’ve made him hustle, ask him to walk forward again on a big loose rein. If he goes to snatch grass again, repeat the same process moving his feet. It won’t take long for the horse to realize that every time he tries to grab a snack he has to work hard, and if he walks along paying attention to you, you’ll leave him alone. Since horses are basically lazy creatures, the worst punishment you can give him is making him move his feet and work.

But while it belongs to all who have at any time or place upheld the flag on land or on sea, yet it had its origin in the sorrow and gratitude that filled the heart of the Nation, as it emerged from the Civil War, stricken with grief, but crowned with glorious triumph.
For these reasons it is no disparagement of others to speak here to-day chiefly of that conflict; its character and results.
We have reached the time when this can be done dispassionately.
As the traveler sailing away from the land sees the shore, the trees, the houses, and the hills receding, blending and disappearing until only the mountain peaks are longer visible, so have the details and minor features of that great struggle blended and faded out of sight, leaving, as we look back to it across the forty years that have since elapsed, only those strong and commanding facts that have taken permament places in history.
We no longer see regiments, brigades, divisions, corps, or even separate armies, but only one mighty and invincible host, wearing the blue and relentlessly pressing on and on, and ever onward, through success and adversity alike, from battlefield to battlefield, until, with waving flags, flashing sabres and gleaming bayonets, they marched home flushed with final victory.
It would be interesting and inspiring to recall that time and review in detail those days of sacrifice, of hardship, of battle, of death, of heroism, of patriotic devotion, of thrilling triumph; and here in this presence there comes an almost irresistible impulse to do so. But all that would be only repeating familiar history.
I shall, therefore, say but little in an abstract way of our heroes and their deeds of daring, that I may speak more fully of their great work.
As we behold the people of this land to-day all at peace, all prosperous, all happy, all imbued with love for our flag and our Government, it seems almost incredible that so recently we should or could have been distracted and brought to the very brink of destruction by one of the most ruthless wars of modern times.

"When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great, and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and your discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be."
Being part of a extraordinary project gives life purpose. Thanks HEI for letting me be part of the team.

Funny Friday
an unusual offer.
"Look, I’ll give you $100 if you’ll change the wedding vows. When
you get to me and the part where I’m to promise to ‘love, honor
and obey’ and ‘forsaking all others, be faithful to her forever,’
I’d appreciate it if you’d just leave that part out." He passed
the clergyman the cash and walked away satisfied.
It is now the day of the wedding, and the bride and groom have
moved to that part of the ceremony where the vows are exchanged.
When it comes time for the groom’s vows, the priest looks the young
man in the eye and says:
"Will you promise to prostrate yourself before her, obey her every
command and wish, serve her breakfast in bed every morning of your
life and swear eternally before God and your lovely wife that you
will not ever even look at another woman, as long as you both
shall live?"
The groom gulped and looked around, and said in a tiny voice,
"Yes." The groom leaned toward the priest and hissed, "I thought we
had a deal."
The priest put the $100 into his hand and whispered back, "She made
me a much better offer."
Have a great weekend, wedding season is in full bloom!

Zen Horse

Flex Five Times
Always remember to flex your horse five times to each side as soon as you put the halter on, and before you even take him out of the stall.
This just starts the day off right — kind of like a handshake: “Good morning, Mr. Ed, it’s me, Clinton.
Remember: I do the pulling and you do the giving.” I also flex my horse five times on each side before I take the halter off because the last thing you do with a horse is the first thing he’ll remember the next day.
Take it from me, mate, taking a little bit of time to developing good, simple habits like this will make your training go smoother and will keep your horse more responsive to you.

On The Road Again
Drove home from California, headed to Park City for a few days, went through 3.5 weeks worth of mail and messages.
Headed back to Salina, Friday for the big barrel race we put on and sponsor.
Poked my head in Burns Saddlery, the home store, to see how everyone was.
Kissed and hugged my 5 grandkids.
Announced the event Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Packed and unpacked.
Headed back to Park City after the event Sunday night.
Hip, back, and leg pain, can't imagine where that came from, raspy voice from all the tractor exhaust and constant talking.
8 am conference call from China. Sounded like a hungover chain smoker.
Looking at my calandar for the next few weeks, it makes these past weeks look like easy street.
Doing what I love and loving what I do. Want to trade me!!!!

Power Thoughts
365 Daily Affirmations
By Louise L. Hay
Louise Hay has helped more people love and appreciate themselves than anyone I know. Her loving powerful words create a feeling of hope, desire, and keeps you filled with a "I know I can do it." attitude.
Thoughts do create our future, it is not just a random course of events happening here. When we understand and embrace that truth we start to become very careful with what we choose to think. Here are a few daily affirmations taken from this outstanding little book.
125
There is enough time and space for everything I want to do.
220
I see only harmony around me at all times. I am always safe and secure.
158
I break new ground and begin exciting new ventures.
110
I am at peace with the elements of nature. There is no "good" or "bad" weather. I can choose my individual reaction to it.
I just randomly opened the book and jotted down the pages I opened to. Funny, I decided a long time ago my happiness was not going to be determined by the weather and since then every day is a remarkable day.

Freedom and change are in the air. I discard old ideas.

Funny Friday
"mother of six" rather than by her first name.
The wife, amused at first, chuckles. A few years down the road, the wife has grown tired of her husband's description. "Mother of six," he would say, "Get me a beer!" "Hey mother of six, what's for dinner tonight?"
This type of situation persisted to a boiling point. Finally, while attending a party with her husband, he jokingly yelled out, "Hey mother of six, I think it's time to go!" The wife seized the moment and shouted back, "I'll be right with you -- father of four!"
Words matter!!
Enjoy your weekend,

Zen Horse
By Clinton Anderson
Is your horse cinchy?
If your horse is reactive whenever you tighten the cinch, try this exercise to solve this problem for good!
If your horse is cinchy, the problem isn’t the saddle, but rather the girth pressure around his belly that is making him feel trapped and claustrophobic. An exercise that I’ll use to fix this is to take the lead rope and toss it around the horse’s belly. First I’ll rub the horse’s belly where the cinch will go, and then tighten the rope to simulate the pressure of the girth.
Pull the top part of the rope down and the bottom up and tighten the rope around the horse’s belly. Once you pull the rope tight, wait for the horse to relax. As soon as he stands still and relaxes, release the pressure. Each time you pull up on the rope, pull up a little tighter until you can pull as tight as you can and the horse just stands there. As soon as your horse is comfortable with this, start moving that rope in a seesaw motion up and down his belly, all the way back to his flank, tightening and releasing as you go.
Make sure that you don’t tie your horse up when you do this exercise. Instead, do it out in the arena or other open area so he can move his feet. When he does move his feet, just keep moving with him and don’t release the pressure until he stands still and relaxes.
Do this exercise for a few minutes every day, mate, and you’ll soon make your horse’s cinchiness a thing of the past!
Happy Trails,
Danna

On The Road Again
After nearly a month on the road I am headed home! One helps you appreciate the other. This has been a fun amazing trip.
My trip included:
Horse Events, beach days, visited the worlds largest tree in the Sequoia National Forest, saw a bear in the wild, dolphins jumping and playing right in front of us. Naked men at the beach, wild flowers in every delicious color, goose egg from tent pole accident, first kiss of sun this year (sunburn), first 100 degree day, palm trees, loaded unloaded, loaded unloaded trailers, wrote out new goals that did not include, loading and unloading trailers. Listened to ocean waves for hours, tide pooled, tasted fine central coast wines, watch sea otters back stroke the coast line, looked with awe at eleven mountain ranges in one view, ate more fresh fish, fresh picked berries, fresh picked cherries, and fresh picked salads never once eating a piece of beef.
California its not just about fire and floods.
Doing what I love and loving what I do, California Style.
Park City here I come. Oh yeah, big barrel race this weekend in Salina, I will be running the road again.

Inspire Me
By Johanna Fuchs
I often contemplate my childhood Mom.
I am a mother now, and so I know Hard work is mixed together with the fun;
You learned that when you raised me long ago.
I think of all the things you gave to me: Sacrifice, devotion, love and tears, Your heart, your mind, your energy and soul--All these you spent on me throughout the years.
You loved me with a never-failing love You gave me strength and sweet security, And then you did the hardest thing of all:
You let me separate and set me free.
Every day, I try my best to be A mother like the mom you were to me.
In Tulare California working on another Mothers Day. My Mother taught me great work ethic.(Ha Ha)
All kidding aside, I have an amazing mother. Her strength, common sense and daily love and sacrifice for her family is incredible.
I know it hurt her when I moved this year, we worked, played, and spent everyday together. Despite her desire to have me close, she allowed me to spread my wings and fly to new heights.
Her strength is impeccable, her love is unwavering, and her dedication to her family and business is inspiring.
Thanks Mom, you are unlike anyone I ever met. How fortunate I am to have you as my Mother. You are the wind beneath my wings.
Flying High,
Your Girl,
Wissy
