Your history lesson for today !!

Manure... An interesting fact

Manure : In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything had to be transported by ship and it was also before the invention of commercial fertilizers, so large shipments of manure were quite common.

It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than when wet, but once water (at sea) hit it, not only did it become heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by product is methane gas of course. As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles you can see what could (and did) happen.
Methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM!

Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was determined just what was happening

After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the instruction ' Stow high in transit ' on them, which meant for the sailors to stow it high enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane.

Thus evolved the term ' S.H.I.T ' , (Stow High In Transit) which has come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day.

You probably did not know the true history of this word.

Neither did I.

I had always thought it was a golf term.

"When I get ready to talk to people, I spend two thirds of
the time thinking what they want to hear and one
third thinking about what I want to say."
— Abraham Lincoln: Was the 16th U.S. president

"It’s one of the most beautiful and melodic-sounding words when spoken in the English language. And as soon as it rolls off the tongue, it inevitably makes people smile. It's the word You. On the other hand, overuse of the words I, me, mine, and myself can sound like fingernails on a chalkboard. When you're with friends, colleagues, or loved ones, remember the acronym WIIFM (What's in it for Me?)… because as you speak, it's what they are thinking."

Inspire Me

Neale Donald Walsh sent me the following, he states;

..that awareness is everything. Not just part of it. Not
some aspect of it. Awareness is everything.

Look, therefore, to your awareness, not to your thoughts.
Your thoughts about things can betray you -- and often
do -- because they can be colored by emotions. Your
awareness cannot.

Just observe what is so. Then observe what you think
about what is so. Then ask yourself, "Why am I thinking
that?" And, more important, "What would happen if I
thought something else?"

Something to "think" about.

Training Tip of the Week:
By Clinton Anderson

Having more respect from your horse leads to having more
control of his feet, which
leads to having more fun.

Respect is like having money in the bank – it gives you more options. The more money you have in the bank, the more options you have. You can spend more time with your family, perfecting your hobbies or just enjoying life in general. If you don’t have much money, you are very limited on what you can do. Let’s be honest, if we won the lottery tomorrow, most of us wouldn’t keep our day jobs. If you have a respectful horse, the options of what you can do with him are endless. You could do cattle work, trail ride, jump fences, compete in the show ring, etc. As long as you can control the horse’s feet, you can do whatever you like. The bottom line is, it’s no fun to have a horse that you don’t have control of. The more control you have, the more fun you will have and the safer you and your horse will be.

Dream Big

Good Morning and Great Day

Where do you knowingly deny yourself the opportunity to live your dream? What do you tell yourself that makes it okay to give up on yourself? What holds you back from following your passion? The choices you make when you are faced with a challenge carve the path that you will take that will either get you closer to your goal or farther away from it. When you continue to walk down a path that is fueled by fear and lack and limitation you become blinded and unable to see the opportunities before you. Until there is a shift in your thinking you will continue to be stuck in mediocrity. Excellence is who you are! It is when you become confident and determined that the abundance of your spirit takes over and you begin to see the possibilities available to you, The choice is yours and the choice you make will change your life. It's time to Step Into Your Truth share your gift and let your genius create magic in every moment.

You were born brilliant, you were born magnificent, you were born excellent and you were born unstoppable. There is no thing that can deny you the joy of receiving all that you want except YOU. When you think empowering thoughts the flow of LIFE guides you towards the oasis of your destiny. You become open to all the divine insight and wisdom that is seeking to express itself as you. You feel your greatness emerging in all you do. You absolutely will Step Into Your Truth and become the person that you always wanted to be and your essence will be present to touch the hearts of all you meet as you go out and become successful in all you do. The time is NOW to awaken to your hearts calling and give the world the gift of all of YOU. Free yourself from thoughts of I can't and run with the truth that you can have it all..

"Having the courage to be fearless in the pursuit of your dream will open your mind to finding the answers that will always get you to your desired destination."

It's your day, MAKE IT A GREAT ONE!

"Communication works for those who work at it."
— John Powell: Professor

"Strong communication remains one of the most critical, yet underdeveloped skill sets we possess. Most people never realize the power of what the right communication can do. It can catapult a simple business idea into a record-breaking year. It can bring a family together. It can help heal the sick, comfort the distraught, and influence people’s lives. It can change you and the world around you."

Practice Communicating, my Tip this Tuesday! We have many ways to work at communicating, social networking has us sending messages through the airwaves. Never before have there been so many ways to communicate. Face to face seems to be the least used:-)

Happy Communicating,

Zen Horse

Training Tip of the Week:
By Clinton Anderson

Train both sides of the horse.

Horses have two sides to their brains: the left brain and the right brain. Each side of your horse’s brain is like a completely separate horse. You’ve got Lefty and you’ve got Righty. Horses hear, smell, think and react differently on each side of their brain. Whatever you do on one side of the horse, you have to do on the other. Just because you desensitize or sensitize your horse to pressure on one side of his body, it doesn’t mean that he will automatically understand what to do when you move to his other side. In order to have a well-balanced responsive horse, you have to act like you own two separate horses.

Dream Big

Good Morning and Great Day

Everyday we are given an opportunity to shine in our brilliance. Through the decisions we make which lead to choices that propel us towards our goals we can absolutely create a most magnificent day. Our journey is naturally bright. Filled with infinite possibilities. Our state of being is grounded in unconditional love and pure potential. The seeds we plant in the garden of our mind will grow and bear a harvest that is abundant and prosperous when we see to it that what we put into our hearts and minds is positive in nature. Letting go of all thoughts of lack and limitation will always make room for new beginnings to be birthed as we travel our path to success. It is up to YOU to make sure that "The Inflow and The Outflow" that you live from is rooted in a firm belief in the greatness of who you are.

Life always presents opportunities for us to grow and transform. It is our purpose to reveal the excellence that is the backbone of our being. The field of plenty that you are living from has all you need right here and know to live and manifest the vision in your heart. Make sure that what you surround yourself with will support and nurture you. That means what you read, watch, who you are in relationship with, your choice of friends, what you eat, how you spend your quiet time, how you spiritually feed yourself must all be in harmony with the passion you have to co-create an awesome day. I assure you your life will be more than you can even dream it could be when you are present and aware to what you are telling, thinking and feeding yourself. Be conscious, pay attention to "The Inflow and The Outflow" and get ready to have an extraordinary day and life.
"The moment you make the choice to support your journey with a willingness to receive all the gifts the universe has for you you will be given the joy of co-creating your life from a place of absolute perfection and you will truly know that you are powerfully magnificent"

Tipsy Tuesday

If a dog was the teacher you would learn stuff like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.

Let others know when they've invaded your territory.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back in the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout . Run right back and make friends.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm and don't feel you should stop when you have had enough.

Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Zen Horse

Training Tip of the Week:
By Clinton Anderson

Balance out your training.

To balance your horse so that both sides of his body are equally relaxed and responsive, you’ll spend two-thirds of your time working on his bad side (the side that is stiffer, pushier or more reactive), and one-third of your time working on his good side. If your horse is spookier on his right side, then you’ll want to spend two-thirds of your time desensitizing that side of his body. Or, if your horse is really stiff when you ask him to flex his head and neck to the left, you’ll want to spend two-thirds of your time practicing the exercise on the left side of his body. Eventually, both sides will even out so that you’ll have a calm and respectful horse whether you’re standing on the right side or left side. You’ll find that the horse’s good side and bad side will switch on and off. Once you have him desensitized well on the right side, he might be worse on his left side and vice versa. It’s always ! going to be a bit of a balancing act

Happy Trails,

Dream Big

Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once, whether you ready or not, to put this plan into action.
Napoleon Hill

I find myself drawn back to Napoleon Hill's success principles over and over, his timeless principles written in the early part of the 20th century are the foundation of the self development movement.

The business projects I have undertaken and just jumped in, feeling completely unready but inspired are my biggest achievements.

I didn't know how I was going to get the Blackhawk Arena, I just had a desire and a commitment to find a way. People, circumstances, and funding started to show up, and before long everything started to fall into place. Were there set backs? Many. Did I give up, NEVER. The perfect team of like minded people came together and we masterminded the obstacles finding solutions for any problems that arose. I look back now and I must say the Blackhawk Team was truly INCREDIBLE!

I received much more than I ever gave in the 16 years of service rendered.

I travel to Salina this week and will stand in the arena that was only a tiny powerful seed of intention in 1990, two years later in 1992 it became a reality, and now 18 years later, 3 phases of additions have also been completed making it even grander than I ever dreamt.

Scores of volunteers came together and made that project happen, and today I get to walk into a building that started as a thought in my head. That is really COOL! Thoughts do become THINGS!!! That is one THING I do know for sure:-)!!

Thank you Napoleon Hill and all those who seek to teach us so we can align ourselves to the mindset of accomplishment.

Always Dreaming Big,

Danna

If you can’t grow it, don’t eat it

A potato comes from the ground, an egg from a hen. But where did that Pop-Tart come from? If your best guess is “aisle 7,” pass it up. “Unprocessed, whole foods will give you the most benefits,” says Michelle K. Berman, R.D., of Fairfax, Va. Processing takes out nutrients such as antioxidants and fiber, and even when chemists add them back, nothing stacks up to Mother Nature.

On The Road Again

First Barrel Race of 2010!!!

It's barrel race time! My first road trip in quite sometime. Ski season has been extended an extra week here in Park City because of all the incredible snow we have received this past week. However ski season or not, the Shaw's will be in Salina this week preparing for the big event located at the beautiful Blackhawk Arena.

I am extremely excited to see and visit my family, our store and team as well as all my barrel racing friends!!! We produce and promote 4 barrel races per year and conclude with a huge finals in August, this year some lucky person will win a $70,000living quarter Lakota horse trailer.

Our whole family will be together individually working on projects to insure the success of this wonderful event. Destiny spear heads all the logistics of making the event happen, working for months getting all the details in place, she is the glue!

Tegan will travel to Salina Thursday, she will be giving Acu-Scope and Myo-Pulse treatments for horses and humans, Tegan along with Destiny run our Energy Medicine business, Harmonic Health. (Call her for an appointment, they are filling fast. Tegan's number is 1-435-201-0169. Both you and your horse will feel and perform better.

Braydan and the great Salina Burns Saddlery Team have painted, spruced up, and will showcase all the new spectacular merchandise for horse and rider, with a selection that is TRULY INCREDIBLE!

Scott heads to Salina on Tuesday to help Dru and Wayland work and prepare the ground so it will be in perfect condition for the barrel racers.

Grandpa Wayland contributes as the leading expert in ground preparation, he has worked the Blackhawk Arena ground since it's ribbon cutting in 1992.

4th Generation Ground Man, Rylan Crane, (the perfect Grandson), at age 8, has 8 years experience working barrel races. His legs are almost long enough to drive the big tractors, he has been driving the small tractor at the farm for over a year.

I will head south on Thursday help put together the awards and event programs, visit everyone I have not seen in months and do what I do best, TALK!! (I am the announcer for the event).

Our HEI team President Bob Maxwell will travel from Nevada bringing great guys to help out with overall details, the rest of the loyal experienced team will come together to serve as needed, making the Xtreme Barrel racing events, FUN, FUN, FUN!

Thanks to all who attend from 10 surrounding states, you make this one of the top barrel series anywhere!! It takes everyone to make it the OUTSTANDING SUCCESS it is!!

See you in Salina,

Danna

Funny Friday

Beware..

IDIOT SIGHTING

When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. 'Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'it's open!' His reply: 'I know. I already got that side.'

This was at the Ford dealership in Canton, MS

IDIOT SIGHTING:
We had to have the garage door repaired.
The Sears repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.

I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one Sears made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower.

He shook his head and said, 'Lady, you need a 1/4 horsepower.' I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4. He said, 'NO, it's not.' Four is larger than two.'

We haven't used Sears repair since.

IDIOT SIGHTING:

My daughter and I went through the McDonald's take-out window and I gave the clerk a $5 bill. Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her a quarter.

She said, 'you gave me too much money.' I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar bill back. She sighed and went to get the manager, who asked me to repeat my request. I did so, and he handed me back the quarter, and said 'We're sorry but we could not do that kind of thing.' The clerk then proceeded to give me back $1 and 75 cents in change.

Do not confuse the clerks at McD's.

IDIOT SIGHTING :
I live in a semi rural area. We recently had a new neighbor call the local township administrative office to request the removal of the DEER CROSSING sign on our road. The reason: 'Too many deer are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'

From Kingman , KS

IDIOT SIGHTING IN FOOD SERVICE:
My daughter went to a local Taco Bell
and ordered a taco. She asked the person behind
the counter for 'minimal lettuce.'
He said he was sorry,
but they only had iceburg lettuce.
-- From Kansas City

IDIOT SIGHTING:
I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, 'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?' To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?' He smiled knowingly and nodded,
'That's why we ask.'

Happened in Birmingham , Ala.

IDIOT SIGHTING :
The stoplight on the corner buzzes when it's safe to cross the street. I was crossing with an intellectually challenged coworker of mine. She asked if I knew what the buzzer was for. I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red. Appalled, she responded, 'What on earth are blind people doing driving?!'

She was a probation officer inWichita , KS

IDIOT SIGHTING :
At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear coworker who was leaving the company due to 'downsizing,' our manager commented cheerfully, 'This is fun. We should do this more often.' Not another word was spoken. We all just looked at each other with that deer-in-the-headlights stare.

This was a lunch at Texas Instruments.

;
IDIOT SIGHTING :
I work with an individual who plugged her power strip back into itself and for the sake of her life, couldn't understand why her system would not turn on.

A deputy with the Dallas County Sheriffs office, no less.
