Zen Horse

Training Tip of the Week:
By Clinton Anderson

Flex Five Times

Always remember to flex your horse five times to each side as soon as you put the halter on, and before you even take him out of the stall.

This just starts the day off right — kind of like a handshake: “Good morning, Mr. Ed, it’s me, Clinton.
Remember: I do the pulling and you do the giving.” I also flex my horse five times on each side before I take the halter off because the last thing you do with a horse is the first thing he’ll remember the next day.

Take it from me, mate, taking a little bit of time to developing good, simple habits like this will make your training go smoother and will keep your horse more responsive to you.

Happy Trails,

Danna
