MORAL DILEMMA

You are driving down the road in your car on a wild, stormy night, when you pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:

1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.

2. An old friend who once saved your life.

3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car?

Think before you continue reading.

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.

You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first.

Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back.

However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again.

YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS................... The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble coming up with his answer. He simply answered: 'I would give the car keys to my old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams.' Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations.

Never forget to 'Think Outside of the Box.

' HOWEVER...., The correct answer is to run the old lady over and put her out of her misery, have sex with the perfect partner on the hood of the car, then drive off with the old friend for a few beers.

Everyone has a happy ending!!!

Have a FUN weekend,

Training Tip of the Week:

Consistency is Your Greatest Ally
By Clinton Anderson

For the best training results with your horse, don't worry so much about how much time you spend training your horse, but rather, concentrate on putting your training days in a row. For example, when I only have three days to work with my horse, I make sure to work him three days in a row rather than every other day.

Why? It's a condition I call "Mondayitis." Every time your horse gets even one day off, the next day he comes down with Mondayitis. This means that the first day you work with him (Let's go ahead and use Monday for an example), your horse comes out and he's fresh, not paying attention, and thinking about his buddies and getting back to the barn. You end up spending most of that day's training session just trying to get his mind back on you. When you start on Tuesday, however, he's already thinking about you, so you can start making some real progress. On Wednesday, or the third day, you may even double the progress you make because of the learning momentum you have built by then.

However, if I work him on Monday and don't work him on Tuesday, then Wednesday just becomes another Monday! And if I give him Thursday off, guess what day Friday is? That's right - it's Monday again. So although you've worked with your horse for three days that week, all right, all you've really done is repeat the Monday lesson three times. It's very hard to make much progress when all you do is repeat Monday. So even if you only have 10 minutes a day to spend with your horse, put those days in a row, mate, and you'll be amazed at how quickly the results will start to stack up.

Happy Trails,

Give up the need to be right. My tip this Tuesday!!!

A funny saying my friends and I started saying over a decade ago is, Your Right and I'm Happy!
When I thought someone was saying something I thought was incorrect instead of arguing I would simply say your right and I'm happy.

When you feel the need to defend your position, peace escapes you. No part of defending yourself to anyone gives you inner peace. By choosing not to defend your rightly hood you surrender that assent need to be right.

This was a big shift in my life. I was a, I'm right freak!!! I could argue and defend my position with the best of them. Ego needs to defend, contentment in ones self, does not.

I try now to be proactive not reactive. Not perfect, just better than I use to be!

On The Road Again

On the road again for the third week straight in sunny California!

Just left the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley, where we toured the central coast of California, searching for the best in food wine and beaches. We certainly accomplished all three with many bonus' along the way.

Some of my favorite beaches, wines, food and outrageous memories include.

Favorite Beach:

Cambria's Moonstone Beach: Great tide pool spot! Sea Otter's cruising the coast line. Sunsets and Moonrise's that will have you standing on your feet shouting BRAVO!!!

Most Shocking Beach Moment:

Avila beach, walking up the coast line by myself, climbing over some rocks to get to a very exclusive spot, watching the waves and sea birds, totally immersed in the moment, totally alone, so I thought, turned around to find a very naked man doing a very naughty thing in public. Needless to say I wasn't as happy to be all alone and secluded back in that spot then. My strides carried me up and out in a hurry.

Favorite Beach Restaurant:

Steamers, next to the Kon Tiki Inn which was my favorite beach front Hotel. Amazing enough the chef's name is Danna, yes spelled with two n's, very rare! Her last named started with a V, my middle name is V, imagine two Danna V's in the world. Of course with that great name she was a outstanding chef.

Favorite Wine:

Scott and I's favorite wine was actually two favorite wines. A reserve Zinfandel from Opolo winery just outside of Paso Robles, and a reserve Syrah from winery Alapay located at Avila Beach.

Favorite Marine Animal Moment:

Watching dolphins jump, play and fish in the wild, right in front of us at Pismo Beach.

Well there is a few of my favorite moments from my week between shows. Oh yes we stayed 3 nights in the wonderfully quaint town of Solvang where the food and pastiers have caused all my jeans to shrink!

We now are in Tulare California where we will set up our Burns Saddlery mobile unit at the BRND California Championships, offering saddles, Lucchese Boots, horse tack and cute clothes for cute barrel racers.

Doing what I love and loving what I do....On the Road Again!!!

Yes Man
Starring Jim Carey

Carl Allen's life is going nowhere--the operative word being "no"--until he signs up for a self-help program based on one simple covenant: say yes to everything--and anything. Unleashing the power of "YES" begins to transform Carl's life in amazing an unexpected ways, getting him promoted at work and opening the door to a new romance. But his willingness to embrace every opportunity might just become too much of a good thing.

This was a feel good, fun movie. I was anxious to see it becasue of seeing Jim Carey
at the Sundance Film Festival. This was a similar performance to Liar Liar. Jim's off the wall humor and facial expressions always makes me smile.

When you want to have a fun night rent this movie and enjoy.

Funny Friday

Young Chuck in Montana bought a horse from a farmer for $100.

The farmer agreed to deliver the horse the next day.

The next day the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry son, but I have some bad news.. the horse died." Chuck replied, "Well, then just give me my money back." The farmer said, "Can't do that. I went and spent it already." Chuck said, "Ok, then, just bring me the dead horse." The farmer asked, "What ya gonna do with him?" Chuck said, "I'm going to raffle him off." The farmer said, "You can't raffle off a dead horse!" Chuck said, "Sure I can, Watch me.. I just won't tell anybody he's dead."

A month later, the farmer met up with Chuck and asked, "What happened with that dead horse?" Chuck said, "I raffled him off.

I sold 500 tickets at two dollars a pieceand made a profit of $998." The farmer said, "Didn't anyone complain?" Chuck said, "Just the guy who won.. So I gave him his two dollars back."

Chuck grew up and now works for the government. He's the one who figured out how this "bail-out" is going to work.

Horse Tip of the Week
By Clinton Anderson

Picking up your Horses Feet:

Many people encounter problems when picking up their horse’s feet. Whether the horse won’t let you hold his foot up or he kicks out at you, most of these problems are fear-based and can be helped by using my “approach and retreat” desensitizing method.

The first thing you should be able to do is rub your hands all over the horse’s legs. If he’s really sensitive, stay up by the horse’s shoulder where you won’t get kicked or hurt and rub him all over with the handy stick first. Once he relaxes and is comfortable with this, you can start using your hands. Start high up on his leg where he is less sensitive and more used to contact, then work your way down a little bit at a time. If he begins to get nervous as you’re sliding your hand down his leg, just hold your hand there until he stands still and relaxes. As soon as he relaxes, remove your hand. Keep doing this until you can slide your hand all the way down the front and the back legs without the horse getting uncomfortable.

Now take your lead rope and shimmy it up and down all four of the horse’s legs. When he’s used to this, put the lead behind his fetlock and pull up. As soon as the horse lifts his foot, release the pressure. If you can get your horse to lift his foot with the lead rope, you’re ready to start cueing him with your hand.

As soon as the horse lifts his foot, release the pressure. Only make him lift his foot for a second or two the first time. It’s very important that you release the pressure before the horse takes his foot away from you. The second you feel him wanting to put his foot down, release his foot even faster — beat him to it! That way he thinks it was your idea, not his, and he feels rewarded.
Remember, handling feet is a process that takes time. When first handling a horse’s feet, you can’t just grab his foot and expect him to respond well. Instead, work up to it by using these simple steps to prepare him for having his foot held up. If you’ll take the time now and work up to it a second or two at a time, having your horse behave when his feet are being handled will no longer be an issue.

Happy Trails,

Danna

Ideas come as waves,
radiating outward from my inner being.
A storm, causing ripples that thrash about in all directions.
With no form or shape,

a useless power.
Then,time and motion
commence with duty.
Aligning and combining my mental forces,
transforming scattered waves
to an organized swell

Groomed by opposing forces

Tip this Tuesday by Neale Donald Walsh

Your favorite number is lucky for you.

Whatever your "favorite number" is, use it! Use it a lot!
It is lucky for you! Why? Because by having it as a
"favorite number" all your life, you have embued it with
tons and tons of positive energy.

This means that it now attracts positive energy,
like a magnet. The energy that anything has is the energy
you give it. This includes people, events...and numbers.
Why does a "lucky charm" work?
Because you say that it does.

Great Tip this Tuesday!

On The Road Again

Hollywood Charity hosted by William Shatner is in the books.

It has been two years since I set up at this nice event.

Let's talk about set up. 100+ record breaking degrees. Wow after leaving Park City Utah and a week prior that was filled with 3 foot of snowfall my body was in shock.

What a nice surprise we had when Loren Skyhorse walked into our set up. We invited him to set up with us in our front and center spot. His saddles and accessories add a class and beauty that is definitely and eye catcher.

Catching William Shatner's eye's of course. To own a Skyhorse Collection Saddle is a treasure. I feel very confident he will own one real soon. William owns a new Burns Saddlery hat. Always fun to sell to a celeb!!!

With the last of the Lucchese Boots loaded in the trailer, tents dropped and stored away for the next show, a much needed and deserved few days off are on tap.

I have put in a few hours this past year. A record certainly for me. 180 some odd days straight. The pacific ocean is calling my name. I will spend a day walking, reading, listening, exploring and just peeling layers.

Next week we travel to Tulare California for the BRND California Championships. For now it is R&R California Style.

To be interested in the changing seasons is a happier state of mind than to be hopelessly in love with spring. ~George Santayana

The changing of seasons is one of my favorite past times, to watch the new life come forth in spring refreshes my soul. To feel the first hot summer night and smell the flowers in full bloom. To view the leaves as they age and become full with color all the while drying and dying. The first refreshing reverent snowfall turning shades of green to elegant white.

Enjoying the transition.

Tomorrow I get to go put my toe in the ocean, my first visit in awhile.

Rave Reviews and Recipes

My review today is the book,

It's Not About the Money
By Bob Proctor

I downloaded this book on my IPod a few weeks ago and have listened to it several times. You may know Bob Proctor from the movie The Secret. I was drawn to this one evening when I was looking for a new book to download.

I have been trying to figure out a way to attract more money into my life. I want to be able to keep all my financial obligations as a business owner paid in a timely manner. When I read this title it intrigued me, I was looking for a book that would help me attract money, then instantly I read the title: It's Not About the Money! I read who the author was, when it was Bob Proctor I clicked on, buy it now.

I believe in the law of attraction and like to study and read material about it. Bob's enthusiasm and passion is addicting.

A person's overall attitude is a composite of their thoughts, feelings, and their actions, not one or two but all working together. Not one or two but all working together which includes the environment we were raised, the education we were given and the people and events that have influenced our lives. Each persons attitudes are completely unique.

As human beings we think in pictures. Your mind exists in every part of your body, if you think of something painful in your life, your neck or back muscles may tighten.
Your mind can heal your body, but your body can't heal your mind.

Through the media we are compounded with 10,000's of images per day. If you are surrounded with negative images and material your subconscious mind stores these and you will more than likely be a negative person.

Choosing what materials we choose to put in our mind is critical to what we will create with our minds. Today's thoughts create our tomorrows.

The title of this book, it's not about the money, is very similar to "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. I like how Bob takes Napoleon studies and directs it into a newer version of this 7 decade old classic.

Taking responsibility for the circumstances of our lives is crucial. Once we figure out the working of the mind we learn that as James Allen said, "Circumstances don't make a man they reveal him."

I highly recommend this book to all those that want to constantly evolve and change their lives to create more of the things they desire.

As Earl Nightingale stated: Good Luck is where preparedness meets opportunity.

A motorcycle patrolman was rushed to the hospital with an inflamed appendix.

The doctors operated and advised him that all was well.

However, the patrolman kept feeling something pulling at the hairs in his crotch.

Worried that it might be a second surgery the doctors hadn't told him about, he finally got enough energy to pull his hospital gown up enough so he could look at what was making him so uncomfortable.

Taped firmly across his pubic hair were three wide strips of adhesive tape, the kind that doesn't come off easily.

Written in large black letters was the sentence.

Fly Season Approching

To practice my approach and retreat method for desensitizing your horse to fly spray, first fill an empty fly spray bottle with water. (If you don’t have one, just pour the fly spray into another container to use later once you’ve solved your problem — this will keep you from wasting your fly spray!) Put a halter and lead rope on your horse and take him somewhere he can move his feet — but can’t get completely away from you — like a round pen or a small arena. Do not tie him up.Now, follow these simple steps:

Step 1 To desensitize your horse to fly spray, you first have to desensitize the air around him. Let’s face it, mate, if I can’t spray the air around my horse there’s no way he’s going to actually let me spray it on him. If he moves away, I just hold onto that lead rope, keeping his head tipped toward me, and move with him, continuing to spray the air with rhythm. Keep this up until he stands still and relaxes. The minute he stops moving his feet and shows you a sign of relaxation, immediately stop spraying.

Step 2 Once he’s comfortable with my spraying the air around him, I’ll begin to desensitize my horse’s topline, or as I like to call it, his “weather shield,” by spraying along his withers and back, then his hindquarters, and then and back up to his neck. If he moves around, I just keep moving with him and spraying just as I did in step one. When he stops and relaxes, you stop and relax.

Step 3 When my horse is comfortable with my spraying his topline, I move on to more sensitive areas like his legs, belly and face using the same approach and retreat method I did in the first two steps. If at any time the horse reacts to my spraying a certain area, I just continue to spray it until he stands still and relaxes, and then I retreat.

Repeat this lesson for several days or until your horse stands still and relaxes while you spray every part of his body. Some horses are more sensitive than others, so how long this takes depends on your horse’s temperament and how consistent you are. Then, replace the water with actual fly spray and you’re good to go!

Above all, mate, don’t act like anything’s different when you spray the real fly spray on your horse. Even after doing this exercise, a lot of people still tend to sneak around when they first try to spray their horse with real fly spray. Don’t. With horses, if you act like there’s going to be a problem with something, the horse will think there’s something to fear. After a few days of using my approach and retreat method for desensitizing your horse to fly spray, neither you nor your horse will ever give fly spray a second thought.

Great Spring Cleaning tips

When you dust, start at the top and work down.
Take all your cleaning tools, avoid unnecessary trips back and forth.
Clean as you go! It takes a lot less time to remove new dirt than old.
Leave baking soda on carpeting over night will absorb musty odors
Make a checklist of chores to get organized first.
Wash walls from the bottom up, to avoid streaking.
Use old socks as mitts for cleaning difficult wood work.
Wash small knickknacks instead of dusting.
To removing heel marks , take pencil eraser and rub them off.
Don't mix cleaning products. Ammonia and bleach are toxic.
Remember common cleaners such as windex and comet meet this don't do rule.
Allowing cleaners to set for several minutes will ease the cleaning job.

My favorite cleaning tip:

Hire a professional, it's fun, it's easy, and you don't have to worry about mixing toxic products.

I do what I do best and hire those who do what they do best, for all of the rest of you follow the insturctions above.

Doing what I love and loving what I do, the rest I leave to Penny and Yani!

California here I come!!!!

Ski season #1 is in the books!

Yesterday with temperatures nearing 70 degrees, rocks starting to appear on the lower part of the ski runs the 2008/2009 ski season came to an end. Extended one week because of the incredible late spring snow fall that occurred just days ago.

I now am sitting in a truck wash in Victorville California, as temperatures reach near 100 degrees. Less than a week ago I was watching the snow pile up on the large pine trees in my backyard.

As one door closes another one opens. Ski season over, show season just beginning.

Destination Burbank, California, home of the the LA Equestrian Center and the William Shatter Hollywood Charity. This fun filled event combines the top reining horses in a 5 day event along with a open horse show. Saturday night the celebrates gather as William Shatter hosts a charity event with entertainment provided by Willy Nelson.

Tomorrow we set up the show in record breaking heat, departing from record breaking snow fall last week. Amazing!!! My body is saying what the hell!

Getting to Know You

The greatest of faults is to be conscious of none.
Thomas Carlyle

Getting to know yourself better takes courage. It is far easier to hide behind a mask than to see yourself as you really are. There are many who think they're the center of the universe, and they have a problem.

If you wish to know yourself and change for the better, you need to accept your inadequacies, fears, weaknesses, mistakes, and more. If you need others present constantly to entertain and distract you, then you are afraid to be still and know yourself.

So spend some time being totally alone and see how you feel. If you are comfortable, then I would say you are in the process of knowing yourself. Knowing yourself means being willing to be with yourself. Once you can do that, the frantic search for distraction and escape will stop ruling your life and you can choose to fill your life with the things that bring you joy.

Taken from Dr. Bernie Siegel's book
365 Prescriptions for the Soul

Even if it feels uncomfortable, go away with yourself and spend some time together getting to know yourself. You may find that you are great company.

Funny Friday

The husband was sitting on the edge of the bed, observing his wife as she turned back and forth, looking at herself in the mirror.

Since her birthday was not far off, he asked what she'd like to have for her birthday.

"I'd like to be six again," she replied, still looking in the mirror.

On the morning of her birthday, he arose early, made her a big bowl of Lucky Charms, and then took her to Six Flags theme park.

What a day!

He put her on every ride in the park: the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Monster Roller Coaster, every ride in the park. Five hours later they staggered out of the park.

Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside-down.
He then took her to McDonald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake.

Then it was off to a movie, with popcorn, soda pop, and her favorite candy, M&M's.

What a fabulous adventure!

Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted.

He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, "Well dear, what was it like being six again?" Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed."

I meant my dress size, you dumb ass!

Zen Horse

Training Tip of the Week: By Clinton Anderson

If worming your horse has become a nightmare, try sweetening the deal with the following steps to worming success.

Plan ahead several days before you actually need to worm your horse and spend a few minutes each day working through the following steps. Throughout this process, remember to use approach and retreat. Don’t tie your horse up, but instead work with him in an enclosed area like an arena or round pen where he can move his feet.

Step 1 Desensitize your horse’s face and mouth by rubbing your hands all over his face and putting your fingers in his mouth. You have to be able to do this step without resistance before you will be able to worm your horse.

Step 2 Desensitize the air space around your horse’s head with the wormer by moving the tubeall around his head on all sides without touching him.

Step 3 Desensitize your horse’s head and mouth with the wormer by rubbing it all over, just like you did with your hands and fingers.

Step 4 Teach the horse the cue to open his mouth by inserting your thumb into the corner of his mouth. As soon as he opens his mouth, take your thumb out. Use the approach and retreat method when you do this.

Step 5 Insert the wormer into the horse’s mouth, and then retreat. When you take the wormer out, rub the tube all over the horse’s face. After you rub his face, put the tube in his mouth again, and then take it out. Repeat this process until the horse is comfortable with it.

Step 6 Repeat Step 5, but this time, actually give the horse the wormer. If my horse is really hard to worm, I’ll first put honey in the dispenser and “worm” him with honey for five days so he associates being wormed with something that tastes good. On the sixth day use the actual wormer, and then follow up with a few more days of “worming” him with honey to help your horse remember worming as a sweet experience — even if he did get that one bad batch of honey!

BORN 1920-1979

FOR ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As infants &children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because, WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And we were OK.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ridedown the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chatrooms....... WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not poke out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and best inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good .

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

Tipsy Tuesday

SOME AMAZINGLY SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES

Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop.

Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about lifting the toilet seat by using the sink.

For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins.
Remember to use a timer.

A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.

If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives; then you'll be afraid to cough.

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Remember: Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

On The Road Again

Whew,

First barrel race of the season is in the books. A big thank you to all who attended, sponsored, worked, and contributed in any way. What a outstanding event, held at the beautiful remodeled Blackhawk Arena in Salina Utah.

Horse Events Inc. and Burns Saddlery Inc. sponsor four of these events per year. The next event is held May 15-17th.

A reunion of horse enthusiasts spending up to a week, working with their horses and spending time with family and reuniting with friends.

Also in the books is ski season one for Burns Cowboy Shop in Park City, Utah. What a wonderful first season it has been. I look back in amazement at how fun ,and incredible the adventure has been.

The hustling Park City now waits for the transition into the busy summer season. It gives me a chance to follow up on all the things that were put away during "the season". And get ready for the first summer season in this beautiful resort town.

They always say, you come to Park City for the snow, but you live in Park City for the summers.

Not sure where the roads will lead me in the following weeks, a little R&R, a little switching of inventory, a little planning for my future , a little time planting seeds , and as always a lot of fun doing it all.

Doing what I love and loving what I do!!!!

Inspire Me

Written by an Australian Dentist

To Kill an American

You probably missed this in the rush of news, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper, an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.

So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let everyone know what an American is . So they would know when they found one.
(Good one, mate!!!!)

'An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish , Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani or Afghan. An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans.

An American is Christian , or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan . The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses. An American is also free to believe in no religion...... For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.

An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world.
The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence , which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness. An American is generous.

Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return......... When Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country!
As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan ..

The national symbol of America , The Statue of Liberty , welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed.
These in fact are the people who built America Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11 , 2001 earning a better life for their families. It's been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 different countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists.

So you can try to kill an American if you must.. Hitler did. So did General Tojo , and Stalin , and Mao Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself . Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom.

Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.

This was sent to me by my friend Paul. Thank you!

I was looking for something inspirational this Easter Sunday. Why not something patriotic!!!

To the land of the free and the home of the brave!!!!!

Happy Easter,

Funny Friday

Housework was a woman's job,
but one evening,
Jenny arrived home from work to find the
children bathed,
one load of laundry in the washer and another in the dryer.
Dinner was on the stove, and the table set.
She was astonished!
It turns out that Ralph had read an article that said,
'Wives who work full-time and had to do their own housework were too tired to have sex'.
The night went very well.
The next day, she told her office friends all about it,
We had a great dinner.
Ralph even cleaned up the kitchen.
He helped the kids do their homework,
folded all the laundry and put it away.
I really enjoyed the evening.
''But what about afterward?' asked her friends.'
Oh, that ...., Ralph was too tired..'

Zen Horse

One of the best ways to teach your horse to lope slow on a loose rein is the Cruising Lesson. It also helps establish a gas pedal which will help you control impulsion in later exercises and will make your horse responsible for maintaining the gait you set until you tell him to do something else. For you, this exercise will also help build your confidence, a more secure seat and better balance.

The trouble is, most people do the Cruising Lesson once or twice and they think they’re done with it. For the Cruising Lesson to work the way it’s supposed to, I recommend Cruising at the canter for 10-20 minutes a day for seven days in a row. Don’t have seven days in a row to ride? No worries! Just Cruise with your horse at the canter for 10 minutes or so every time you ride him, and when he can maintain a good consistent lope for 10 minutes without your having to correct him, you’ll know he’s ready to move on to more advanced exercises.

The husband had just finished reading a new book entitled,

'YOUCAN BE THE MAN OF YOUR HOUSE'.

He stormed to his wife in the kitchen and
announced, 'From now on, you need to know that I am the man of this
house
and my word is Law.

You will prepare me a gourmet meal tonight, and when I'm finished
eating
my meal, you will serve me a sumptuous dessert.

After dinner, you are going to go upstairs with me and we will
have the
kind of sex that I want.

Afterwards, you are going to draw me a bath so I can relax.

You will wash my back and towel me dry and bring me my robe.

Then, you will massage my feet and hands.

Then tomorrow, guess who's going to dress me and comb my hair?

The wife replied, 'The freaking' funeral director would be my first
guess'.

Dream Big

"Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality."— Earl Nightingale: Author, The Strangest Secret, Lead the Field

I love Earl Nightingale!!

I use his quotes often, and his book Lead the Field is definitely in my top 10 best all time books. I enjoy the audio version because of his deep voice and enthusiasm he portrays while reading his work.

Today's thoughts do create our tomorrows. I read once that our conscious mind only retains as long as you can remember a phone number when directory assistance gives it to you, before writing it down. If your like me that's short. I say it over and over again, desperate to hurry and write it down before it vanishes into infinity.

Subconscious, is thoughts put in our head, either by what we choose to read, listen, watch, and our surroundings in general. That is why it is so important to surround yourself with positive, people, materials, and most importantly direct your thoughts to strength, happiness, health, wealth, joy, love, bliss, all the things we truly want in our lives.

It really is easy. When you feel bad, that is a sensor telling you are attracting what you don't want, and what you don't want is on it's way if you continue to think those thoughts of sadness, anger, disappointment, etc.

When you feel good, you know you are thinking the thoughts that will align you with what you truly want. Feelings are wonderful sign posts that help you know where your thoughts are taking you. Don't be upset with them, be glad you have them.

While Dreaming Big, feel what you want, get happy, feel joyous, feel the appreciation in your heart for receiving it. Know it is coming, and the magic begins to flow.

With appreciation for all,

Upright

Spiritual strength depends on spiritual posture.

Rabbi Laibl Wolf

Why is man's posture upright while most of the animal world's posture is horizontal? Why is our spine built to have us walk on two legs instead of four? Maybe it is a sign of what our lives should be like. Perhaps we should be reaching for a higher level of living and not just living by instinct, as other animals do.

Our spine also reminds us of the balance between those at the top and those at the bottom. This is not about evaluating the importance of an individual life but understanding that we are all important and that we all rely on each other. The feet cannot go anywhere unless the feet carry it.

The key is to be aligned in an upright position and work to accomplish higher things with our lives.

Funny Friday

This woman rushed to see her doctor, looking very much worried and all strung out.
She rattles off: “Doctor, take a look at me.
When I woke up this morning, I looked at myself in the mirror and saw my hair all wiry and frazzled up, my skin was all wrinkled and pasty, my eyes were bloodshot and bugging out, and I had this corpse-like look on my face!
What’s WRONG with me, Doctor!?”
The doctor looks her over for a couple of minutes, then calmly says:
“Well, I can tell you that there ain’t nothing wrong with your eyesight….”

Zen Horse

Training Tip of the Week
By Clinton Anderson

Post for Better Balance:

Whether you ride English or western, compete or trail ride, we all have one thing in common and that’s to be the best horsemen we can be. A truly great horseman moves as one with their horse and has extremely good balance. One of the best ways to develop good balance with a horse is to learn how to post to the trot. The trot is a two beat diagonal gait, and when you post correctly, you’ll be sitting one beat and raising the next. In order to stay in rhythm with your horse, you must have good balance and be in time with his feet.

Most people make learning to post difficult, but in reality, it’s as simple as this:

Learn to post at the standstill first by practicing the up and down motion – this way you don’t have to worry about your balance as much as when the horse is moving. Start out by standing up in the stirrups and act like you’re going to head butt the ceiling. Then sit down. Remember that you have to have rhythm so as you stand up and sit down, count out loud to yourself – “one, two; one, two; or up, down; up, down.” You’ll find that whatever comes out of your mouth, your body will often follow. Notice that one, two or up, down has two beats to it, the exact same beat your horse’s feet will have when he’s trotting.

Practice the same motion of posting (up, down; up, down) at the walk. This will be a little trickier since the horse is moving, but it’s important to practice the up, down motion while you’re going slow before jumping straight to the trot. Remember to keep a consistent rhythm.

Now practice posting at the trot. Put the horse on a loose rein at the trot and let him go wherever he wants – don’t steer him. By letting the horse go wherever he wants, you will only have to worry about moving up and down and finding a rhythm, not steering him and worrying about where he’s going. Of course, you want to practice in a safe arena or pasture. As you post to the trot, remember to keep counting out loud to yourself and focus on establishing a consistent rhythm. You’ll find that at first you’ll be flopping and bouncing all over the saddle, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be moving in rhythm with your horse in no time.

Happy Posting,

Danna

Damn Good Stuff

An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student before but had, once, failed an entire class.
The class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism."All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.
But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided that since they could not make an A, they studied less.
The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for anyone else.
All failed to their great surprise just as the professor told them that socialism would ultimately fail because the harder people try to succeed the greater their reward, but when a government takes all the reward away; no one will try or succeed.

Democracy....Damn Good Stuff!!!

To you from failing hands we throw the torch; be yours to hold high.
John McCrae

At night we are seeing light that originated billions of years ago. Light has no limits. When we shine, we have no limits either.

So become a luminary and light the way. Do not be afraid to pick up the torch and light the darkness. There are no limits to the effects your enlightened behavior will have.

Yes, it takes a certain energy and passion to light the darkness, but we are all capable of it when we shed our fears. By shining your light you can help others to heal as individuals and as inhabitants of this planet. So light your torch and illuminate the path. My review today is for the book 365 Prescriptions for the Soul by Dr. Bernie S. Siegel

Daily Messages of Inspiration, Hope, and Love.

I really enjoy these type of books. You can pick them up read a couple pages feel energized by the messages and head out the door to slay the dragons we create in our lives.

They uplift, inspire, enlighten, and overall make you feel good. The idea is a daily prescription, a daily quote by writers, scholars, or avatars. With a small essay about the topic, and my favorite a Solution of the Day at the bottom of each page.

Dr. Siegel states he wrote 365 Prescriptions for the Soul to provide the reader with a daily guide and resource for navigating the troubled waters and challenges of life.

The book is an accumulation of life experiences and the knowledge he has gleaned from studying the wisdom of the ages.

His most significant insights come through his work with patients diagnosed with life-threatening or disabling illnesses. Their wisdom and teachings have profoundly changed Dr. Siegel's life for the better and this writing will do the same for you.

Haltering your horse:

By Clinton Anderson

G’ day mate! Here’s a training tip I use to help me start the day off right by getting respect from my horse when I first put on his halter.
I hate feeling like I have to chase my horse’s head with the halter, so having a respectful and responsive horse is very important.
Teach your horse the habit of accepting the halter with his head low and tipped towards you.
To do this, first teach him to lower his head when you touch his poll with your fingertips. The touch and rub poll exercise found in my DVD, Gaining Respect and Control on the Ground, Series II, explains how to do this.
When you’ve lowered the horse’s head to about waist level, hold the tail of the halter with your right hand and the cheek piece in your left hand, and then scoop his nose into the halter, pulling up so it tips towards you slightly.
If the horse shows any resistance in giving to you, continue pulling and releasing, pulling and releasing, until he softens.
Once he’s ! soft and responsive, tie the halter and flex him to each side.
When you take the halter off at the end of the day, follow these same steps and you’re on your way to creating a horse that’s soft and responsive when being haltered!

Happy Trails,

Dream Big

When you think at that moment that it is possible...then the magic starts.

When I read that sentence my mind went back to those times when I knew it was possible.

Business transactions, personal challenges, physical challenges, mental challenges, that seemed insurmountable until I added desire and banished my doubts.

I remember that feeling of magic, when I stayed focused and knew it was possible.

A few examples are.

Getting a loan for a new 13,000 square foot store in 1983 when interest was at a all time high of 16%. But materials and labor was at a all time low, helping us build the building for half the price of low interest rate times. Building it, moving into it, not knowing if we would have the funds to support such a big operation but doing it anyway.

Blackhawk Arena, just a idea, turned into a desire, turned into a reality in 1992. I remember the very night when I thought my God were really going to get this.
Just this past year putting together a 3rd proposal for expansion on the arena, hearing all the doubters, still staying focused on what I wanted, the magic moment hit as I sold the project knowing that nothing less but full funding would satisfy me.

Park City new store, last April I walked the street, found the perfect building, it wasn't available, kept my focus on what I wanted, prices over the top. Doubts crept in, went back to the reasons I wanted the store, desire came back. Magically building became available, owners wanted to sell, building wouldn't appraise, let go of my attachment and looked at other buildings, owners decided to lease, signed contract Sept. 2nd. Moved Oct 6th. Cut Ribbon November 13th.

Anything is possible, keep thinking it is, then the magic starts.

Doing what I love, and loving what I do in Park City Utah!

"Be around people who can keep your energy and inspiration high. While you can make progress alone, it's so much easier when you have support."

Dr. Joe Vitale: Marketing and Copy writing author, one of the stars of The Secret

Who we chose to spend our time around definitely influences our energy level and creative juices. We have all been around people that simply wear us out with their negativity. Learn from them not judge them. Be that positive spark that uplifts others instead of draining them.

When you strife to be a bright, positive light on the world it is amazing how the negativity of others simply floats away. You will attract into your life the people you are most like, the others will simply fade away. If you find yourself always surrounded by negative people it's time to look within for the solution. Fix you first, then if you need to take action by leaving someone or shifting yourself out of a job that is surrounded by negative influences you will have the power within to do so.

Don't send out low slow energy, send the high vibrations of positive energy such as happiness, joy, love, and bliss that is what we can all do in these changing times!

On The Road Again

On the road this week to one of my favorite cities, Fort Worth Texas. A short two day trip filled with business adventure in buying and masterminding.

Lynn and Amber finished up the Silver Dollar Horse Show in Las Vegas, Nv. yesterday, a big thank you to them for being such great road warriors.

Braydan headed down to load it all up and bring it home today. Tomorrow he heads northbound to meet me in Salt Lake for our flight. He has put on thousands of hard road miles these past two months. What a great asset and leader he is to the Burns Team.

Spring has sprung this past week in Park City, water has been running steady. The success monger in me wants more ski season. Maybe fresh powder in the forecast will give us a few more weeks of the best skiing in the country.

Shoulder season will be here before long, I survived my first winter in a winter town, and loved every minute of it. My road miles have been few, my miles of new experiences have been many.

Change your Thoughts, Change your Life:
Written By Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

25th Verse

There was something formless and perfect before the universe was born.
It is serene.
Empty.
Solitary.
Unchanging.
Infinite.
Eternally present.
It is the Mother of the universe.
For lack of a better name, I call it the Tao.
I call it great.
Great is boundless; boundless is eternally flowing; ever flowing, it is constantly returning.
Therefore, the Way is great, heaven is great, earth is great, people are great.
Thus, to know humanity, understand earth.
To know earth, understand heaven.
To know heaven,understand the Way.
To know the Way, understand the great within yourself.

I read this book and also downloaded it on my IPod, I highly recommend it for forward thinking readers. The Tao Te Ching was written over 2500 years ago. Wayne takes each of it's 81 verses, gives the verse ,then a essay on each verse from his study, thought and meditation on it.

I sat down and read the entire book in a Sunday afternoon. I listen to the audio version often, The book is great to just pick up and reference a verse or two.

I always get something new and profound out of The Tao Te Ching. What an amazing work of thought.

I give Change your Thoughts Change your Life.

A couple of New Jersey hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn’t seem to be breathing, his eyes are rolled back in his head.

The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: “My friend is dead! What can I do?”

The operator, in a calm, soothing voice, says: “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.”

There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy’s voice comes back on the line. He says: “Okay, now what?”

The Second Funniest Joke ever:

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson goes on a camping trip. After a good dinner and a bottle of wine, they retire for the night, and go to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes wakes up and nudges his faithful friend.

‘Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see.”
I see millions and millions of stars, Holmes,” replies Watson.
“And what do you deduce from that?”
Watson ponders for a minute.

“Well, astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three.

“Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. Theologically, I can see that God is all powerful and that we are a small and insignificant part of the universe. What does it tell you, Holmes?”

Holmes is silent for a moment. ‘Watson, you idiot!” he says. “Someone has stolen our tent!”

Zen Horse

Training Tip of the Week
By Clinton Anderson

Flexing your Horse:

G’day mate!
I think at some point all of us have had a horse that didn’t want to stand still when being mounted.
If you get on your horse and he immediately starts to walk off, it won’t be long before he will begin to walk off as soon as you put your foot in the stirrup.
When a horse is allowed to walk off as soon as you get on, he starts to anticipate moving ahead before you’re in the saddle and pretty soon he won’t stand still for you to mount.
This can be really frustrating, but something I do that makes a big difference when mounting and helps keep my horse respectful and standing like a statue is flexing.
I always flex my horse laterally for three to five minutes as soon as I get on.
This teaches the horse that when I get on he’s not going anywhere, and he quits anticipating moving ahead.
I don’t know about you, but I want my horse to be in a hurry to do nothing but stand still and be soft when I step on.
Horses are professional che! ats, and are really smart about figuring out what we humans are going to do.
By being consistent in flexing your horse, you’ll teach him patience and hopefully won’t have to chase him down the road anymore when mounting.

Happy Trails,

Danna

Tipsy Tuesday

“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”

Dale Carnegie (American lecturer, author, 1888-1955)

I was a big approval seeker, I thought my reputation depended on it. A few years ago I read Carnegie's words, I decided it did not matter my reputation, the only thing I should be concerened about is my character.

Since that time of reading Carnegie I catch myself approval seeking, and smile. Recongnition of it simply helps the need for the approval to float away.

We all like others to approve of what we are doing, but we can get caught up in our reputation, giving strength to our ego and weaking our character.

Love what you are doing no matter what others think of it.

On The Road Again

Utah Horse Expo, last week,
Silver Dollar Horse Show, Las Vegas, Nv. South Point Equestrian Center this week.

Braydan and his team of worker bee's are loading and unloading merchandise as fast as they can. Saddles, Lucchese Boots, designer clothing, top quality horse tack and fine accessories for the horse and rider, can be found at any of the shows we attend.

40 Weeks per year of shows is a grueling schedule, requiring stellar crews and logistics, I am so proud of all who make Burns Saddlery known throughout not only the western industry but branded throughout the world.

It is amazing the quick set up and tear down these energetic teams accomplish. Other vendors are in awe of the efficiency of the Burns Crews. As am I.

Inspire Me

Neale Donald Walsh said, that all the problems you face today are going to go
away, unless you worry them to stay.

Problems like worry. Worry is a magnet for them. If
you just "let it be," the current worrisome condition
will not even be part of your life a short time from now.

If you worry enough about it, however, you can be sure
that it will stick around. So, just do your best around
all this...then turn it over to God.

Have a Worry Free Sunday,

Funny Friday

Two Irishmen, Patrick & Michael, were adrift in a lifeboat following a dramatic escape from a burning freighter.
While rummaging through the boat's provisions, Patrick stumbled across an old lamp.
Secretly hoping that a genie would appear, he rubbed the lamp vigorously
To the amazement of Patrick, a genie came forth.
This particular genie, however, stated that he could only deliver one wish, not the standard three.
Without giving much thought to the matter, Patrick blurted out, "Make the entire ocean into Guinness Beer!"
The genie clapped his hands with a deafening crash, and immediately the entire sea turned into the finest brew ever sampled by mortals.
Simultaneously, the genie vanished.
Only the gentle lapping of Guinness on the hull broke the stillness as the two men considered their circumstances.
Michael looked disgustedly at Patrick whose wish had been granted.
After a long, tension-filled moment, he spoke: "Nice going Patrick! Now we're going to have to pee in the boat!

Happy Friday the 13th, My Favorite!!!! One last month, one this month.

Luck of the Irish,

Training Tip of the Week
By Clinton Anderson
Clipping your Horses Ears

At some stage of horse ownership, you will need to clip your horse. Remember, horses are prey animals and perceive anything new to be potentially life threatening. The key to having a horse that is easy to clip is to break the process into steps, teaching the horse that the noise and the feel of the vibrating clippers is not going to hurt him. When it’s time for me to clip my horse, I desensitize and prepare him for the process by following these steps:

Rub your hand all over your horse’s face and ears. Get your horse to accept your hands on his face, muzzle, ears and around his eyes– desensitizing him to anything moving around his head. Once you have accomplished this step COMPLETELY, move on to Step 2.

Take the clippers in your hand – turned OFF – and desensitize the horse to having the clippers around. Let him smell the clippers, then rub them over his face and wave them around his eyes and ears. Make sure that he will tolerate the feeling of the clippers on all parts of his face, eyes and ears – especially inside the ears. This may take working with your horse for a couple days before he completely relaxes. Make sure that the horse is showing no resistance to this step before you move on.

Remove the blade and turn the clippers on to let the horse get used to the noise. Without touching him, wave the clippers around the end of his nose, his eyes and his ears. Desensitize him to the sound and movement. Once he relaxes, turn the clippers off and pat him. Use my approach and retreat method: every time the horse relaxes and lowers his head, turn the clippers off and pat him. You are not trying to touch him right now with the clippers– all you are doing is getting him to stand still with the clippers on and moving around his head. Pay particular attention to areas where reaction is high – this is usually around the ears. You might have to spend more time here. Initially, it might take a couple of minutes before he relaxes his head when the clippers are near his ears. However, once he does, turn the clippers off. Repeat this procedure until there is little, if any, reaction from your horse.

Once the horse accepts the clippers around his head while they are turned on but not touching him, it is time to rub them all over his face, nose, around his ears and on the poll. The horse may act frightened again, but this is normal. Just keep rubbing the clippers around until he begins to relax his head. As soon as he relaxes, turn the clippers off and pat him. Remember, approach and retreat. In the beginning, you might want to work on one area of his head at the time. Start with the muzzle and work your way up. As he relaxes in each area, you can increase the places you are rubbing until you can rub them all over his head.

Once your horse is comfortable with all of the previous steps, you are ready to begin clipping the hair on his face and ears. However, if you are still getting resistance from the horse to any of the steps up to this point, you will only make matters worse by proceeding. Again, don’t start with the ears. Start at the muzzle and work your way up – under the chin, up his face, around his eyes, in the bridle path and poll area. Then start to work on his ears. It is a good idea to do a little bit of clipping and then go back and rub the clippers over areas that you have already clipped. Actually clipping the hair is another new feeling, and the horse may react to the sensation. If he gets suspicious or frightened, you can go back to the rubbing that he should already be used to. If you do a little bit each day, after a week or so you should be able to clip anywhere on his body with no resistance.

Happy Trails,

Dream Big

“The greater the difficulty, the more the glory in surmounting it.” Epicurus quotes (Greek philosopher, BC 341-270)

How true the words of Epicurus.

When we grow emotional muscle and overcome things that seem impossible to overcome is when true satisfaction of accomplishment occurs.

Being open to life when difficulty surrounds us, knowing that minute by minute it is getting better.

Using our minds to strengthen our surroundings is truth resulting in joy and happiness!!!

Pain is a natural phenomenon, suffering is a choice.

Glory comes to those who are open to their future, in anticipation of the dreams and desires their minds create.

All of us experience difficulty, learn from those who never sit with the difficulty but move in the direction of their dreams and desirers.

Dreaming BIG in Park City,

Bloom where you are planted!!!

My tip for today!

Where ever you live make the best of it, don't wish to be somewhere else. Living life and loving life is a inside job not a geographical one.

Make the best of your conditions right where your are, then if a move is in your future it will come to you with ease.

Loving what I do and where I live, of course I do live in Paradise!!!

On The Road Again

Braydan and Dru just finished up the Cactus Classic Reining in Scottsdale Arizona, completing the Arizona horse show run for 2009. Amazing it is already nearing the middle of March!

The winds of change continue to blow in bringing changes not only in the weather but the shift also occurs in inventory. Winter goods are being blown out at give away prices to make way for all the cute new spring lines.

I love when the new fresh goods start shipping in, Spring is color, a rebirth of color. Put your black and brown away, let's start wearing color!!!!

Anyone who knows me will say you always wear, brown, green or black. Well it's springtime in the Rockies and I am going to expand my closet. To expand my closet I will have to send a bunch of it on to some other person's closet.

My week is filled with more of the same, with a few business meetings thrown in to make me appreciate working with my clients at Burns Cowboy Shop in Park City.

Have a Wonderful Week,

Aquarius Lyrics

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars

Randi, my friend and office manager and I were reminising the other day, remembering old songs . Songs that made us think while shapping our world around us. We listened and sang these wonderful songs, songs that created life long positive memories.
Randi is amazing at remembering lyrics, actually she is amazing at remembering everything.
So today I found the lyrics for the song Aquarius and wanted to share them.
What a wonderful era the 60's were. A true revolution of thought and a shift and opening of the mind.

Training Tip of the Week
Staying Focused
By Clinton Anderson

When you take your horse on a trail ride, don’t put him on auto-pilot. Horses are just like kids, if you don’t give them something to do, they’ll find something to do! It’s perfectly fine to let your horse trot and canter on a loose rein, but don’t expect him to stay focused on you throughout the trail ride if you don’t check up on his responsiveness occasionally. Though trail riding offers the perfect opportunity to work with your horse outside the arena, it’s important to remember that being outside in open areas offers your horse lots of distractions. Don’t let these distractions become a problem; instead, use them to your advantage.

Keep your horse focused on you by yielding the hindquarters, yielding the forequarters, and other exercises. Get creative! Do post-to-post exercises with a couple trees or try the serpentine exercise using different obstacles. Doing exercises like these in an open area or on trail rides will help increase your horse’s respect because he learns that no matter where you are, you require the same amount of responsiveness. The great thing about riding outdoors is it adds variety to your routine and can present you with new challenges. If you use these challenges to improve your horsemanship, you’ll have a respectful and willing partner whenever you hit the trails.

Happy Trails,

Danna

Dream Big

Your hopes, dreams and aspirations are legitimate. They are trying to take you airborne, above the clouds, above the storms-if you will only let them!

William James said that and he was right.

If we live our lives for someone else, or wait until a better time to start something new, then we become stuck in a lifetime pattern of maybe next year. Maybe next year when the economy is better I will start that business. If I had listened to the drug plug (Television) I would never have completed any of my goals, hell I would never have even started them.

We get plugged into the talking heads opinions and put our hopes, dreams and aspirations on hold, waiting, is nothing more than fear.

I am here to bear witness not to slow down for any dooms day predictions, don't wait until things get better, act now, make the slow economy work for you not against you. The strong get stronger, the weak get weaker, get strong, dream big, don't live by their doubts, live by your desire.

I know I am not willing to wait, I am not willing to live in fear, let's live, let's DREAM BIG!!!

On The Road Again

The Road Less Traveled

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

...Robert Frost

It has made all the difference in my life.
