Rave Reviews and Recipies

My Review today is from the book written by James Arthur Ray titled Harmonic Wealth: The Secret of Attracting the Life you Want

Another book on forward thinking, of course I Loved it!!!

This book was so outstanding I have listened to the audio book several times. James' enthusiasm is apparent in every word he speaks.

This, you can change the world book, comes at a time when quite frankly we all should read, study and apply the content.

James Arthur Ray was part of the hit movie and book "The Secret" I remembered him as the guy that explained the Law of Attraction as the genie saying, your wish is my command.

Here are some other reviews I pulled off the website www.harmonicwealth.com

"James Ray pulls no punches. In Harmonic Wealth he tells you exactly what you need to do to create the life you want. I love this book and highly recommend it."

-- Jack Canfield, coauthor of The Success Principles and the Chicken Soup for the Soul series

"Harmonic Wealth is a classic. James Arthur Ray did not just write a book, he went out into the world and made it happen, charting every move he made. This book is a map that clearly outlines how you too can literally create a life of harmonic wealth."

-- Bob Proctor, author of the international bestseller, You Were Born Rich

"Harmonic Wealth offers access to abundance in all areas of life through practices that are both fun and profound. The entire book goes down easy in leading its readers into an understanding of the difference between a disciplined and an undisciplined mind, the key ingredient to overall success. James Ray’s work and his life model what it means to live in harmony with the rhythms of the universe.

-- Michael Bernard Beckwith, founder of Agape International Spiritual Center, author of Inspirations of the Heart, 40 Day Mind Fast Soul Feast, and A Manifesto of Peace

"This will definately be given as gifts to my forward thinking friends. A timeless masterpiece. If your not a forward thinker but would like to be check it out, experiment, what do you have to lose, your old mind? What do you have to gain, everything.

Intend it, then put your attention on it.

Zen Horse

Training Tip of the Week
Be Black or White
By Clinton Anderson

It's important to reward your horse when he does what you're asking.

The more black and white you are, the faster your horse will learn what you want. Strive for a definite difference between, "That's it! Good boy!" and, "Get out of my space! Stop pushing into me!"

If the horse isn't responding correctly, the faster you can make him feel uncomfortable for that behavior, the faster he will change it. The sooner you can make him feel uncomfortable when he tries to do the right thing, the sooner he will learn.

If your horse misbehaves, make him feel uncomfortable - he will instantly connect his action with your reaction.

For example, let's say your horse pins his ears back and acts as if he will bite you. You must be very clear - black and white - that you will not accept that behavior. If you do nothing, or make a half-hearted correction, you essentially tell the horse, "I want you to bite me next week."

On the other hand, if you immediately react when the horse nips - you might back him up, or do something else to make him feel uncomfortable - he will instantly connect his action with your reaction.

If my horse acts disrespectfully toward me, I will make him uncomfortable very quickly. It will be effective. Then it will be over and done with.

Sunrises

One of the true refreshers in life is sunrise. The day beginning, sleep has our minds dumped of the garbage and our senses are on high alert to receive the life force energy we call sun. It spreads itself outward bringing with it life, without condition.

I remember great sunrises. The anticipation, the sky turning many shades as this slow development takes place right before my astonished eyes.

Some of my favorite sunrises include, in no particular order.

Thousand Lake Mountain, over looking Cathedral Valley as the horses begin to rustle around in anticipation of their morning hay.

Flying, viewing miles of skyline, as the brilliant colors unfold below you.

Equinox, two times per year at my house in Salina, it lines up perfectly between my center door window.

Top of Mountain on Fremont Junction New Years Morning the chill, the stillness, and the only sound is the echoing of coyote's calling across the canyon.

There are a few of mine, think of a few of yours, share if you would like. My intention is to always out do my current list, we have 365 days per year to try.

Sunrises, Damn Good Stuff.

Cowboy Hat Care Tips

The cowboy hat is a defining piece of western wear and are worn by those who like the country western look. Cowboy hats are a symbol of free living and is a fashion statement for many of those who love the out of doors.

The Cowboy Hat Store has compiled a list of tips for the care and handling of hats.

Proper care is the key to extending the life of your hat. Your hat adds the final accent to compliment your dress. Preserving your hat's original appearance, will bring about years of hat wearing pleasure. As the quality and quantity of your hat wardrobe expands, it becomes increasingly important to develop good hat care habits. Below are some general tips on caring for your hats.

(1) Never place the brim of a hat on a flat surface. This could cause the brim to flatten and lose it's shape. Place upside down on its crown. Store on a clean surface or in a Cowboy Hat Box.

(2) Never handle your hat by the crown. If your hands are dirty or oily they will leave spots on the fabric. When removing or putting on your hat pick up the hat by the brim. Try to adjust your hat by holding the front and back of the brim. Try to avoid handling the crown as much as possible.

(3) Never leave your hat in a hot car, closet, or anywhere that is exceptionally hot. Heat causes the sweatband to shrink, and your hat will no longer fit.

(4) Remove surface dirt from a straw hat with a clean damp cloth. Begin on the left side of your hat, and gently rub the dampened towel counterclockwise toward the back.

(5) Remove surface dirt from a fur felt hat, with a soft hat brush. Use a dark colored hat brush for dark hats and a light colored hat brush for light hats. Begin on the left side of your hat, gently move the hat brush counter-clockwise towards the back.

(6) Remove any lint still remaining after brushing your hat, with 2" painter's tape (masking tape). Wrap the tape around all four or your fingers, with sticky or adhesive side facing out. Gently pat your hat, removing any existing lint.

(7) To keep the sweatband dry of perspiration and hairdressings, occasionally turn down the sweatband to dry. With the leather sweatband turned out, perspiration and hair oil will evaporate instead of soaking into the hat. This applies to both felt and straw hats.

It must be hat week at Danna's Bla Bla Blog for Horse Lovers, good hats only get better with wear, investment is worth it, a expensive hat always looks and feels expensive, a cheap hat always looks and feels cheap, in hats and boots quality always ends up costing less.

Have a terrific Tuesday,

Danna

On The Road Again

This past week my travels took me to Billings, Montana. Home of Rand Custom Hats. We will now offer Rand Hats at Burns Cowboy Shop in Park City Utah.

Scott, Braydan, Tegan and I flew off for official hat training. Rand Hats are manufactured one hat at a time, and it was incredible the work that goes into these custom made hats.

Ritch Rand was a great host, his knowledge about hats was amazing. When you are able to set down with the creator, the person that has hat passion in his core, you gain a new appreciation for his product.

Custom Rand Hats are exactly that, custom, with unique one of a kind designs varying from conservative, vintage, and down right outrageous. We had fun designing our own hats, and putting together a collection for the new store.

Our knowledge about hats grew and our love for them did also. I brought me home a beauty. And ordered two more, and of course, Braydan went over the top with a olive green 1940 to 1950 style named "Dog Bone" he calls it his Anglo Taco Hat, I call it holee molee guacamole, then I turned right around found a hat I loved in the same Olive Green Color, I guess he doesn't fall too far from the tree.

Hats are so much fun!!!! It not only keeps your head warm and shades you from harmful rays, but a cowboy hat gives you a kind of attitude when you put it on, you stand a little taller and walk a little prouder and live a little louder. I love being a cowgirl, and love selling hats and boots to cowboy's, cowgirl's, old or young, experienced or just intrigued with the lifestyle.

Check out our website for hats and also Rand Hats website, call or email us and we will get you, or your honey a new hat ordered to be delivered before Christmas with a custom gold lettering inside saying made especially for -------. Hurry time is running out to have one made by Christmas.

Email me from this site with your phone number and I can help you custom design and order your hats today, especially now that I am fresh out of hat school.

Hats Off, to Ritch for making a quality product second to none.

Rave Reviews and Recipies

My Review today is on the book,

A Year by the Sea written by Joan Anderson.

I was given this book by a wonderful friend and women named Deb Hibberd. I met Deb several years back when our daughter's rodeo ed and we would see each other during barrel racing futurity's throughout the west.

Since then we have reconnected because of a group of ladies that love to ride the back country. Deb is a single strong women that has built many wonderful properties to spend time with nature and her horses. One in Victor Idaho by Jackson Hole Wyoming and the other in Wickenburg Arizona. I have been to both ranches and rode with her and our friends, we have the most wonderful experiences on these retreats.

During our discussion times we talk about books we like, this is when she passed the book on to me for reading, I have since passed it on to other friends. My friend Jacqueline reminded me about Dave Stamey's concert where he signs a book he reads and hands it to someone who will promise to read it, sign it, and pass it on to another interested person. A book club of sorts. What a great idea, so lets all do that, it will be great fun to see what circles back around.

Now back to my book review. Great Chick book! This true story is about Joan herself in a entrancing story of how one woman's journey of self-discovery gave her the courage to persevere in re-creating her life.

Joan was a loving wife supportive mother, and slowly and unconsciously replaced her own dreams with the needs of her family. With her sons grown, however, she realized that the family no longer centered on the home she provided, and her relationship with her husband had become stagnant. Joan realized that she had neglected to nurture herself and, wore, to envision fulfilling goals of her future.

She refused to follow her husband to his new job and decided to retreat to a family cottage on Cape Cod. This book is about the year she spent by the sea re-discovering her self.

This is a wonderful book for women to follow along Joan's journey that brings her to a better understanding of herself, and as she does so will you.

The steps that Joan took to revitalize herself and rediscover her potential have helped thousands of woman revel and release untapped resources within themselves.

I give it Rave Reviews, and one WARNING, you won't be able to put it down.

Happy Reading,

Danna

Redneck Logic

Two rednecks decided that they weren't going anywhere in life and thought they should go to college to get ahead.
The first went in to see the counselor, who told him to take math, history, and logic. "What's logic?" the first redneck asked.
The professor answered, "Let me give you an example. Do you own a weed eater?" "I sure do."
"Then I can assume, using logic, that you have a yard," replied the professor.
"That's real good!" said the redneck.
The professor continued, "Logic will also tell me that since you have a yard, you also own a house." Impressed, the redneck said, "Amazing!"
"And since you own a house, logic dictates that you have a wife.""That's Betty Mae!
This is incredible!"The redneck was catching on.
"Finally, since you have a wife, logically I can assume that you are heterosexual," said the professor.
"You're absolutely right! Why that's the most fascinatin' thing I ever heard! I cain't wait to take that logic class!
"The redneck, proud of the new world opening up to him, walked back into the hallway where his friend was still waiting. "So what classes are ya takin'?" asked the friend.
"Math, history, and logic!" replied the first redneck.
"What in tarnation is logic?" asked his friend. "Let me give you an example.
Do ya own a weed eater?" asked the first redneck.
"No," his friend replied.
"You're queer, ain't ya?"

Tipsy Tuesday

I found the following on www.lifeorganizers.com great advise.

Tame your to do list, and take time for yourself

Scheduling your day is an art that is definitely worth perfecting. A balanced schedule--one that equally distributes work and play--is one worth striving for.
If you're spending all your time working, and little or no time playing, then it's time to tame your to do list and take back your time.
Just as you schedule specific dates and times for your medical appointments, also schedule specific dates and times for yourself--and keep those appointments just as you would for any other important event.
Time taken for yourself is time well-deserved, and is vital for a healthy body, mind and spirit.

Mini task and smile

When you have nothing but difficult and time-consuming tasks and projects on your To Do list, it's difficult to get an immediate sense of accomplishment.
But, that satisfied feeling is often needed to get and stay motivated.
Be sure you sprinkle some tasks that you can definitely complete in 10 minutes or less, in between those more difficult tasks, on your To Do list.
You'll end the day smiling, because you'll get that needed sense of accomplishment throughout the hours.

Always begin and end your day smiling,

Danna

On The Road Again

The road this week lead me to my new home Park City Utah. Great anticipation filled my heart as I emerge myself into this new life.

I have been working fairly steady on this project since April and today we will start moving product into the store. All the logistics are coming together to have an opening date of November 1st.

The store looks fantastic, the remodel was headed up by my son Braydan Shaw. I couldn't be more proud of him, and very grateful for him and my daughter in law Misty. The work and vision they have put into this has been incredible.

Also a big thank you to my father in law Wayland Shaw, his master carpenter skills and decades of experience added his personal touch to the building. My two nephews Bryson and Brady Shaw have also put hours of hard work to transform this 110 year old building into a very cool cowboy shop.

Goals work, write them down, visualize, add hard work and wah lah another wish granted.

My condo is exactly what I wanted, a million dollar view, including aspen's, pines, water, geese, and the views of those outstanding mountains that will soon hold thousands of skiers per day on them.

Loving Life On The Road Again, this time the drive will keep me here longer than two weeks. Except for the drive back to Salina tonight to get more product and a warmer coat.

Inspire Me

"When I admire the wonder of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in worship of the Creator"(Mahatma Gandhi)

I admired the beauty of the moon this evening. My first moon in Park City.
Rising with it's silent glow, the tiny lights of homes glisten throughout the mountain side , the ski trails a brilliant white with the moonlight, crisp mountain air adding to the stillness, my soul as did Gandhi expanded in worship of the Creator.

Gandhi was a connector to the creator, his pure soul is timeless.

Countless souls to be so grateful for, they lead the way helping all future generations.

My eyes and soul will never be the same after witnessing the transistion into winter my first days in Park City Utah.

Thank you Creator for a Inspiring Day,

Rave Reviews and Recipies

On the way home from Reno this week I listened to another book that I downloaded to my IPOD. The book is written and read by Jerry and Ester Hicks there latest in a series of best sellers on the topic of the Law Of Attraction. It's title is Money and the Law of Attraction ; Learning to Attract Wealth, Health, and Happiness.

Learning how to be a vibrational match to what you want is the underline message in this book. This unique message is sent through a channeled messenger, whom Jerry and Ester call Abraham. This requires a opened mind. When I first heard them years ago I was somewhat suspicious. After a while I opened up to it and was amazed by its message.

This book tells you how to pivot your thoughts and emotions to what you want, insuring you will be a vibrational match to receiving it. Since everything in the Universe is energy and vibrates with a currency, this began to make sense to me.

I have practiced and studied this law for years and can bear witness to its miraculous results, when studied and put into action. I have grown my business with it, expanded the Blackhawk Arena, met the right people that opened doors for both them and myself. By implementing the tools given to me by this Law I now understand how powerful thoughts really are.

We are the creators of our future. Thoughts not only matter they create matter and when you ask it will be given. In may come in the form of books, acquaintances, synchronicity that seem to appear out of the blue right when you need them most. Being the observer of what you think about everyday will revel the circumstances of your life. Or as James Allen states in As A Man Thinketh, "Circumstances don't make a man they reveal him."

I highly recommend this book for the open minded person who wants to live in a life of limitless possibility's. I know I do.

Happy Thoughts,

Danna

Funny Friday

Do you find yourself looking at others your own age and thinking, "Surely I can't look that old?"

If so, you'll love this one!

I was sitting in the waiting room of my new dentist. It was my first appointment. I noticed his diploma on the wall, which had his full name.

Suddenly, I recalled a tall, dark haired, handsome boy with the same name had been in my high school class nearly 50 years ago.

Could this be the same boy I had a secret crush on, way back then?

When I saw him, however, I quickly discarded that thought.

This gray haired, balding man with the deeply wrinkled face was way too old to have been my classmate. Hmmm! Or could he?

After he examined my teeth, I asked him if he had attended Northampton High School.

"Yes, I did!" he said. "I'm a Konkrete Kid." He gleamed with pride.

"What year did you graduate?" I asked.

"In 1959," he said. "Why do you ask?"

"I was in your class!" I exclaimed.

He looked at me closely. Then, that ugly, wrinkled, old, fat, bald, gray, decrepit SOB asked, "What did you teach?"

I got this off a great website http://www.jokesclean.com/Age/MoreAgeJokes.php

Sometimes I look in the mirror and think who is that old women, I know I don't feel as old as I am beggining to look. So this made me laugh!!!

Happy Ageless Friday,

Danna

Zen Horse

As we move into the 21st Century, we are sure to see exciting advances in medical technologies and treatments. New modes of healing will undoubtedly move us beyond surgery and drugs as the primary treatment modalities, and into energy medicine. The Electro-Acuscope and Electro-Myopulse are promising new technologies that bring about healing in a revolutionary manner, giving new hope to sufferers of chronic pain.

I was introduced to Acuscope from Shirley Ankrum, horse trainer and barrel racer. She was working on some horses in our area and stopped by our store. After talking just briefly with her I knew this could help one of Destiny's horses. Shirley took the horse home with her and treated him for less than a month. After the month of treatments she hauled him down to our barrel race held at the Blackhawk Arena, Destiny didn't plan on running him because of the soreness he had been having. After Shirley's recommendation she decided to run him. Despite not being ridden in a month Cruiser ran outstanding, was in the top five and ran a 15.6. Setting the arena record on her other horse Serina running a 15.3 needless to say Destiny was pumped. Destiny told me he had more to give her and that she was being conservative because she didn't know how he was feeling. She was right, the next day he came out and ran a 15.3 and won the go. We were believers in Acuscope.

Destiny started to research this miraculous machine, Shirley gave her the contact person in Reno where she had been trained. This week Destiny finishes up her training and will become certified to treat horses. She invested that money she has won because of the machine into buying a machine to further assist not only her horses but others as well.

For you readers that don't know Destiny is my daughter, and of course I am proud of her and her accomplishments. She has a real talent with horses it has evolved since she was 2 years old. Her first competitions came at 7 years old and she has never been able to get enough. Her passion in life is horses, now she has furthered her education to administer healing to not only her horses but others as well. I am proud that she practices what I call Zen Horsemanship, creating a balance between horse and rider to communicate without ever saying a word.

Here is a bio on the Acuscope:

The Acuscope/Myopulse Story
Physicist Dr. Anthony Nebrenski, an electronic genius who developed missile guidance systems for the Star Wars project also helped develop the EEG and EKG. In 1979, he turned his attention to a revolutionary new healing technology which evolved out of research in electro-acupuncture. His work resulted in the creation of the Electro-Acuscope and the Electro-Myopulse, healing technologies for the 21st Century.
In 1986, John Thorp, a professional Hollywood stuntman, shattered his right leg in over 56 pieces. Surgical repair with pins, screws, and plates left him with chronic pain, and a prognosis of never bending his knee again, walking with a cane, and developing painful arthritis.
At the time, John was working with actor Lee Majors. Lee recommended that John try a therapy that was showing excellent results among professional athletes. That therapy used the Electro-Acuscope and Electro-Myopulse. One year later, to the astonishment of his doctors John ran his first of over 28 triathlons. After 17 years, the knee is still arthritis free.
John developed a passion to help others experience the same miracle these machines brought to him. He spent 17 years in healing practice researching and developing extensive treatment protocols to most effectively use these machines. His protocols have been so successful that he has gained the endorsements of Cedar Sinai, Castle Medical Center, Maui Memorial Hospital, and UCLA, among others.

When tissues are diseased or damaged, the normal electrical flow and functioning of the body is disrupted at the cellular level. The cells experience ”their power being shut off.“ Nutrients are unable to flow into the cells and toxins are unable to be released. This results in increased electrical resistance in the problem area, causing the body’s electrical currents to flow around the damaged tissue. The Electro-Acuscope has the capacity to drive the current through the resistance and stimulate rapid cellular regeneration.
These are state-of-the-art computerized medical instruments. Both machines are FDA approved. They are programmed to ”read“ tissue at a cellular level and compare those readings to optimal or healthy tissue. The computer then selects the appropriate corrective signal and delivers it to the damaged tissue. The machines continue to read and treat until the tissue electrical flow is normalized.
The Electro-Acuscope is designed to specifically heal neurologic tissues and read all body tissues and systems as well. The Electro-Myopulse specializes in healing connective tissues such as bone, muscle, tendon and ligament.

After we learned about the Electro-Acuscope/Myopulse, we were so impressed with the results it produced that we committed myself to bringing these machines out of the world of elite athletes, Hollywood stars, and even the Pope, to make this technology available to the general public. This technology has been used by such notable athletes as Wayne Gretsky, Jack Nicholas, and Mary Decker Slaney, to name a few. Hollywood stars, including Lee Majors, Cybil Shepard, and Cloris Leachman, have discovered the amazing benefits of this technology. Even Pope John Paul II has several of these machines at the Vatican.
These machines are bringing phenomenal results in applications as diverse as sports injuries, auto accidents, repetitive motion injuries (carpal tunnel), arthritis, stress reduction and insomnia. The general public now has promising new modes of healing to fight chronic pain, giving us a glimpse of the things to come in this exiting new Century.

Treatments with these amazing machines include:(Please Note: requires a referral from a Licensed Medical Practitioner)
Alzheimer’s Disease
Arthritis/Bursitis

Damn Good Stuff

Maui Jim Sunglasses ----Damn Good Stuff

I bought and wore my first pair of Maui Jim glasses after my first eye surgery, my doctor highly recommend I invest in Maui Jim. He said they were the best sunglasses to filter out glare and provide the proper UV protection I needed. My eyes being extra sensitive to light now a bit the bullet and forked out $150 bucks.

Let me say that this is best money I ever spent. Maui Jim glasses not only did what the doctor said they would, but much, much, more. The high definition of color is incredible. The best polarized lens provide an unbelievable enhancement to your vision.

While driving it actually fills like my eyes are on anti-depressants. Driving long distances like I do can wear on your eyes, however it is night and day difference while wearing Maui Jim's.

Organization Tips That Add More Hours To Your Day

I found this on the website www.lifeorganizers.com

One of the most common complaints that small business owners have is lack of time. What most don't realize, however is that their lack of time stems from a lack of organization. But with a few simple tips - that you can implement immediately - you can literally add hours to your day.

Putting Things In Their Place

First and foremost, you should live by the motto, "A place for everything and everything in its place".
When you are finished with a piece of paper, a brochure or any other physical document - file it. What usually happens is that you finish using a piece of paper, "temporarily" put it in a stack and then have to spend two hours cleaning up after yourself once a week. Or, you may leave it in a stack and spend two hours a day digging through the mess to find what you need.

Create a filing system that works for you personally and then use it! Perhaps you'd like a filing cabinet? There are also expandable folders and numerous other filing systems. Choose the one you like, create a folder for it and put it where you can find it again if need be.

I'll Be Right There

How many times a day do you say (or think) that? Especially if you work from home, you probably have plenty of interruptions that take valuable time out of your day. If you're a work-at-home parent with young children, it may be a bit more difficult to end interruptions all together, but these tips will help.

Set "office hours". As much as possible, let your family know that between 8am and 11am, you'll be working. Then again from 1pm until 6pm you'll be "in your office". (Or whatever hours work best for you.)

Ignore your email. Well, partially, anyway. Unless you're expecting some urgent message, don't stop what you're going to run check your messages each time you hear the "bell" ring. Decide on the time frame that works best for you and then check your email at certain times during the day. (Perhaps every three hours or so.) During the rest of your work time, turn your email software off so you can resist the temptation to check each message as it arrives.

Screen your calls. These days most people have voice mail or an answering machine. Unless you're expecting a call, let the machine get it. Just as with your email schedule, you can set aside time during the day to return calls. This is a great way to avoid telemarketers, too!

Great tips for this Tuesday,

Danna

On The Road Again

Well another Snaffle Bit Futurity is in the books, time to load up all the Lucchese Boots, Powder River Outerwear, Garcia Spurs, Maui Jim Sunglasses and head to Park City Utah.

Time to head home to Salina for a brief stay of one to two days depending how much I can get done tomorrow. After being gone since the end of August with the exception of a few days, needs such as hair cut, fresh nails, and a hopeful visit with my masseuse is in order. Then there is the laundry, yard and house. Reconnect with the family, catch up on the several missed birthday's re pack a suit case and head north to Park City to check on progress of the new store and take the second look at the condo I leased 3 weeks ago. that now less than a month from opening.

In between all of that organize time to choose and load product for PBR. (Professional Bull Riders Finals) held in Las Vegas.

Then after PBR it is NFR!!! WOW, how many weeks until NFR. (National Finals Rodeo )where we haul 15 loads of the finest merchandise to all three locations, Cowboy Christmas at the Convention Center, Sands Expo at the Venetian, and Mandalay Bay.

That's one busy fall and winter schedule if I miss a day or two on blogs or if they are extremely short you know the reason.

Loving a busy life,

Native American Wisdom

Many men and women have laid down ageless wisdom for us to live by.

The following quotes of Chief Seattle remind us that the same breath that goes through my lungs

goes through yours, prejudice should have no place on this planet.

We are all bound together by the same life force that allows both our hearts to beat.

As we reflect on our existence this is something we should consider, and teach our young so as to

stop the pre-judging that occurs because of ignorance.

We can learn much from Native American Wisdom and Chief Seattle's spirit continues to float

free upon this web of life.

Many great men and women to learn by Chief Seattle is one of those great spirits.

All things share the same breath - the beast, the tree, the man... the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports. Chief Seattle

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect. Chief Seattle

SeattleSuqwamish and Duwamish (1786-1866)

Seattle, also known as Sealth, was very young when George Vancouver came to Puget Sound to

map the region. Before that time, the Duwamish and Suquamish (his mother and father's

respective tribes) had had very little contact with the whites.Seattle's brief experience with

Vancouver impressed him greatly, which was perhaps why, in later life, he tried to advocate a

peaceful coexistence with the settlers. When he was a young man Seattle inherited his father's

position as chief, after first having proved his leadership in warfare against other tribes in the

area.Seattle was so impressed by the French Catholic missionaries that in the 1830's he

converted to Christianity, taking the baptismal name "Noah".By the 1850's the settlement had

begun to grow and prosper and the name was changed from Alki Point to Seattle.More and more

settlers began to move into the area, and in 1855 the governor of Washington Territory called

together the tribes to propose a new treaty. This treaty would send the tribes to a reservation

and their lands would be controlled by the government.Although Seattle continued to council for

peace, the conflict lasted many years. Finally Seattle moved onto a small patch of land on the

western side of Puget Sound where he spent the remainder of his life.

Thank you Chief Seattle, Inspiring,

Rave Reviews and Recipies

Traveling as much as I do carrying Burns Saddlery's wares throughout the west gives me opportunities to listen to audio books as I drive the many miles of the desolate west.

Interstate 50 headed to Reno Nevada claims to be the loneliest highway in America, rightfully named, and I adore it. The vastness gives me a chance to empty the mind or fill it with a good audio book. I chose a wonderful book to do that with this trip. I downloaded from itunes a few audio books as I headed west.

The book The Answer by John Asaraf and Murray Smith. John was featured on the very popular video The Secret, he talked about vision boards and talked to his son about them only to discover years later he was living in the exact house he had placed a picture of on his vision board 5 years prior.

Here is a description of this work furnished by Amazon.

In this visionary work, New York Times bestselling author John Assaraf and business guru Murray Smith reinvent the business book for the twenty-first century.
Two of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world, they combine forces to bring their special insights and techniques together in a revolutionary guide for success in the modern business environment.

Assaraf and Smith know how to minimize risk and maximize success, and The Answer provides a framework for sharing their wisdom, experience, and skills with the millions of people who want to accomplish their own dreams in life.

Using cutting-edge research into brain science and quantum physics, they show how readers can actually rewire their brains for success and create the kind of extraordinary lives they want.

By teaching readers how to attract and use newly discovered "uncommon" senses to achieve business success, the authors demonstrate the beliefs, habits, thoughts, and actions that they have used to build eighteen multimillion-dollar companies.

I was so impressed with this book I have already re listened to several chapters and will buy the hard cover book, this is a must have if you want to have the answer to growing your not only your business but your life!

I give this book 5 stars and one full moon.

Funny Friday

After being married 25 years, a man looked at his wife one day and said,

"You know, 25 years ago we lived in a cheap apartment, drove a cheap car, had only a sofa bed and watched a 14" black and white television.

BUT, every night I got to sleep with a hot 25 year old blonde."

"Now," he continued,

"We have a nice house, a new car, a big flat-screen TV, but I have to sleep with a 50 year old woman.

It doesn't seem fair."

His wife was a reasonable woman. She replied,

"Well, why don't you go out and get yourself a hot 25 year old blonde?

Then I'll make sure you will once again live in a cheap apartment, drive a cheap car, have only a sofa bed and watch a 14" black and white television."

The man rethought his priorities.

Always rethink your priorities,

Zen Horse

Training Tip of the Week

By Clinton Anderson

Approach and Retreat Easy Reminders

Approach your horse with the object.

Approach and Retreat is a method used to desensitize your horse to scary objects. Approach your horse with the object he is worried about and don't retreat (take the object away) until he does two things: 1) stops moving his feet and 2) shows a sign of relaxing.
Horses have two sides to their brain: the thinking side and the reactive side. The thinking side is calm, rational, safe, attentive, confident, etc. In other words, it's the side we want our horses to use. The reactive side is what Mother Nature tells the horse to use - "Run first and think later." When a horse uses the reactive side of his brain he's full of energy, unpredictable, jumpy, fearful, etc.
Teach the horse to use the thinking side of his brain by making him move his feet forwards, backwards, left and right and always rewarding the slightest try.
Always find a starting point, a level of pressure that your horse can tolerate and is comfortable with, and then gradually increase the pressure to reach your end goal.
Keep a steady and constant rhythm.
Don't retreat (take the object away) until the horse stands still and relaxes. When a horse relaxes, he'll do one of six things: lick his lips, lower his head and neck, blink his eyes, cock a hind leg, take a big breath, or stand still for 15 seconds.
Keep a steady and consistent rhythm when desensitizing the horse.
Consistency is your greatest ally. Inconsistency is your greatest enemy.
Horses have a left side and a right side to their brain and each side needs to be trained separately. I spend 2/3 of my time training a horse's bad side, and 1/3 of my time training his good side.

Thanks Clinton I have a good side and a bad side too I try to spend 2/3 of my time on the good side. Check out Clinton's Website www.outbackhorsemanship.com

Indian Summer

Indian summer is a name given to a period of sunny, warm weather in autumn, not long before winter.

Usually occurring after the first frost, Indian summer can be in September, October, or early November in the northern hemisphere, and March, April, or early May in the Southern hemisphere.

It can persist for a few days or extend to a week or more.

We have been experiencing a wonderful Indian Summer, our first frost came on Labor Day weekend giving us the realization that summer was coming to an end. Then the gift was presented a full month of Indian Summer.

Here we are the first day of October, fall colors abound, beautiful perfect weather to enjoy viewing there transformation. Which ever transportation you prefer to get out and experience this once a year occurrence is calling you, I know mine is on the back of a good horse or mule.

A couple of years ago I experience the most majestic of Indian Summer days, it came on the back of a mule. Thousand Lake Mountain was the setting and every color imaginable presented itself in the form of aging leaves. I could hardly breath as my friend Celia and I rode across the mountain side. My heart still holds the memory and the longing to recreate the experience is most strong on beautiful Indian Summer days like today.

Enjoy them there fleeting fast,
