Zen Horse

Training Tip of the Week:
By Clinton Anderson

Colt starting can be tremendously rewarding. I love working with colts because it’s like a clean slate. All you have to do is show them the right things to do and they’re happy to do it. The first six weeks of a horse’s life under saddle is when he learns the most. He learns how to pack a rider, turn left, go right, stop, back up, soften, move off your leg, etc. He learns an incredible amount of information in the first six weeks under saddle. You want that to be good information, not bad, so that he learns to be soft, supple and relaxed, not pushy and disrespectful.

Day 1, NFR.....will keep you posted!! Good Luck to all the Cowboys and Cowgirls.

Happy Rodeo Trails,
Danna
