Don’t look to the stars for the cause of your misfortunes: look to yourself to get better results.
There are many things you cannot control, but you can control the only things that really matter: your mind and your attitude. External forces have very little to do with success. Those who program themselves for success find a way to succeed even in the most difficult of circumstances. Solutions to most problems come from one source and one source alone: yourself. Living life to the fullest is a lot like shooting the rapids in a rubber raft. Once you've made the commitment, it's difficult to change your mind, turn around, and paddle upstream to placid waters. But it's the excitement and adventure that make it all worthwhile. If you never make the attempt, you may never know the depths of despair, but neither will you experience the exhilaration of success.

Dream Big
The individual with a negative mental attitude attracts troubles as a magnet attracts steel filings.
It is a curious fact of nature that somehow our minds find a way to transform into physical reality the things we think about most. If you expect to fail, you can be sure that you will, and if you find something negative in every opportunity, nothing will ever work out positively for you. Fortunately, the reverse is also true. If you are a happy, positive person, you will attract positive things. You can keep your mindset positive by eliminating negative thoughts the moment they begin to creep into your conscious mind. If you dwell on the negative aspects of every opportunity, you will never accomplish anything worthwhile. Be prudent about the risks you take, but don't be paralyzed by fear of failure.

Sound character is our greatest asset because it provides the power with which we may ride the emergencies of life instead of going down under them.
Message from one of my mentors Napoleon Hill
Without PMA, life might be described as long periods of uncertainty punctuated by occasional emergencies that shake you to the very core of your being. The emergencies may be financial, personal, or health related, but each must be dealt with separately and swiftly. The surest way to deal with any crisis is to focus on solutions, not on the probable cause of the problem or who should be blamed for it. Conduct a quick damage assessment, take the time to think through the alternatives and their consequences, and then act to implement the best solution. If you deal with life's emergencies as they occur -- on your own terms -- you will be a stronger, better person for having looked them in the eye and conquered them.

Every thought you release becomes a permanent part of your character.
Thoughts are things. Every thought you release -- good or bad -- is a form of energy that can affect those who receive it, for better or worse. More important, your thoughts affect you. You become what you think about most. If you think about success, you condition your mind to seek success, and you attract large portions of it. Conversely, if you think about failure and despair, you will become miserable and desperate. To keep your mind on a positive track, the moment you begin to experience creeping negativism, make a conscious decision to eliminate negative thoughts and replace them with their positive counterparts.
A message from the Napoleon Hill Foundation.

"Nurture great thoughts, for you will
never go higher than your thoughts."
— Benjamin Disraeli: Was a British prime minister, parliamentarian, and author
How true!!! "Thoughts become things", "energy flows where attention goes," as a man thinketh," many ways to say it, all very powerful. Thoughts are responsible for reality. When I catch myself thinking about things I don't want, I quickly turn it around to things I do want. This has changed my life.
Nurturing thoughts for a fun ,successful, NFR, and holiday season. While this jet carries me to my destination, once only a thought in the minds of the Wright Bros. So many thinkers to be thankful for.

As I sit here happily exhausted I marvel at the wonderful day I just experienced. Wednesday Oct.6th.
Today at Burns Cowboy Shop we helped doctors from Boston pick out beautiful wearable works of art in boots and fine leather jackets.
We served a duchess from Scotland and a group of her wonderful friends.
A family from Australia purchased treasures in leather, first stating they wished they hadn't stubbled upon the place, only to replace that regret with, how happy they were to have found us and how much they loved all the wonderful items they get to return home with.
The founder of an incredibly successful company stops by our shop almost daily because he loves our shop and the high quality of merchandise we provide, especially our unique hand crafted leather belts, silver buckles and accessories.
People from China, Spain, Russia, Denmark, France, Italy, Australia, Scotland, all marveling at the wonders of a leather shop on Ocean Ave. in Carmel-by-the-Sea California, first founded in a small rural Utah town way back in 1876 by my Great-Great-Grandfather Miles Lamoni Burns.
He had a dream, little did he know what would become of it 5 generations later.

I sit here as the pines dance with the winds of change. Fog rolls off the great pacific ocean and I feel so very small and so very fortunate.
Monday Rylan Dan Crane turned 9 years old. Rylan is our first grandchild and only grandson of 6. How fast a decade goes, incredible! Rylan is an amazing worker. When he was 5 years old we were tearing down a show in Colorado and it was over 100 degrees. We hired a young man around 20 years old and his girlfriend to help us. He was trying to keep up with Rylan as they hauled out product and loaded it in the very hot trailer. He said, "That kid is working circles around me, how old is he, we smiled and said, 5." Rylan has many qualities. He gets along with everyone. Even his little sister Jacy, who sometimes pushes his patience. Rylan loves tractors, his favorite hangout is Mason Machinery in Aurora. His first words seemed to have tractor jargon in them. At the young age of nine he has driven several. Working the barrel races our family produces, and helping out at the ranch he has had many opportunities. Rylan is a grounds man!! He wants it the best and will tell the guys what needs to be done. He loves the mountains and hunting with his Dad. He is an excellent baseball and basketball player always giving 100%. We love him and miss him tremendously. Happy Birthday Rylan, see you in a few weeks, we will go Whale Watching!!
As Scott has said for nine years now, "Grand parenting, it's the best job you will ever have."
Life is a journey of events, age brings some of the most wonderful ones. It takes age to become a grandparent. Glad I am of age.
Dreaming of those 5 precious smiles.

WOW!!!! Be Careful what you Wish for.
Many of you know of my busy lifestyle. This month it went to another level of busy. My last post was on Aug. 3rd. That was when my life was busy, after August 3rd my life became extremely busy.
Concourse de Elegance car show in Pebble Beach was what began the over drive. We broke records in busiest days ever in our 134 years of doing business. We serviced clients that months ago I could only dream of.
The day before car show started my phone decided I had used it too much and it quit on a Saturday, I was without a phone until Wednesday all on the busiest week in our 134 years of operation. Car show completes, in my 51 years of existence I have never been so completely exhausted.
I go to my computer to follow up on some very important emails and I see a receipt from amazon in my inbox. Braydan and I had talked about getting me an IPad to use as a display tool for my designs in boots and clothing as well as referencing our online product with the customers, so when I saw a receipt for an IPad with accessories I thought it was legitimate. Then it happened, I opened it up to see the delivery details and zap my computer was fried. Less than a month before Scott had fried his computer with a virus so here we set, no personal computer between us. He had taken his in twice with no success and I felt like someone had pulled the plug on all our contacts to our past and future.
Keeping Sane During Trials
No phone contacts, no email contacts, no contacts period. I could not even remember my Mothers cell phone number because I would just push Mom. Luckily her land line I could remember because it has been the same since I lived there. I thought about all the pictures I had lost, my writings, my book I was writing, all gone. My resume in case I needed another job:-)! My mind raced with disappointment and anger. Some SOB just zapped my past and all my hours of work! And I had not backed it up, bought insurance, collected the data, the only thing I had left that had been on my computer and phone was my IPod. 9765 titles that have taken me years to compile I held in my hand with fear of OMG what if I lose this.
Strong anger towards the perpetrator came, then equally as dissapointing anger came towards myself for not having a back up. It wasn't like this hasn't happened to me before. First time shame on them, second time shame on me. Shame, the lowest of all emotions was not going to solve any of my trials.
I took the computer to Salina last week as Scott and I traveled to help put on the Xtreme Barrel Race year-end finals. I turned it over to Braydan and hoped. As I sit here typing this I am hopeful it will publish. Braydans IT,assistant, Spencer is trying to recover material off my hard drive but it does not look good.
Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.I could not change it I had one option, I had to accept it.
So all of you that read this, if I haven't called or emailed you it is because I can't remember your email and phone number. That goes for 99% of you. So if you want me to have your contact information email or phone me.
As I sit here typing this I am thinking I now have to learn how to back up all my past information systems to make my future easier. Weird...... without stored information we become stifled in forward progression.
And this too shall pass.

"Don't be afraid to give up the good to go for the great."
— John D. Rockefeller: Was an American industrialist and philanthropist
Great advice!!! I love the phrase the better it gets, the better it gets, if we want better, we need to keep looking for better.
Because the worse it gets the worse it gets. I avoid going down the road of gloom and doom.
We choose our thoughts, we choose our reactions to our relationships with family, friends, and co-workers.
Is it making our life better, or worse?
As Mr. Rockefeller states, don't be afraid to give up the good to go for the great!!
Expecting Great Things this Wednesday,

PS Team Members, Lynn Folstad, Sue Siegel, Peggy and Gary Harrison arrived to help us this week, a big thank you to them for their long travels to fill in as we leave tomorrow to help produce the Xtreme Barrel Race at the Blackhawk Arena in Salina.
We look forward to visiting in person all our family and friends back in Utah!!!

The Human Body!
It takes your food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach.
One human hair can support 3kg (6.6 lb).
The average man's private area is three times the length of his thumb.
Human thighbones are stronger than concrete.
A woman's heart beats faster than a man's...
There are about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet.
Women blink twice as often as men.
The average person's skin weighs twice as much as the brain.
Your body uses 300 muscles to balance itself when you are standing still..
If saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it.
Women reading this will be finished now.
Men are still busy checking their thumbs..
This one made me laugh out loud…
Happy Trails,
Danna

"Each man [is] the architect of his own fortune."
— Appius Caecus: Early Roman political figure and road builder
Architects have deep vision, they see every detail of the project they will create, seeing the finished project is the only way they can begin the project. Building it in their mind before they can put it on paper.
All fortune's begin with a thought, seeing it from the end, constructing it with a desire of completion. Knowing what the end result is, seeing it, feeling the feeling of obtaining the project will bring it at lightning speed.
Knowing what you want with a clarity of completion.
I know it works, I am sitting in the building that was just a few months ago a vision.

Hello Again!!!
Did you wonder if I had fell off into the ocean????
This has been the longest I have went without posting, reason, working night and day to get the new Carmel store opened. It's official, on June 12th 2010 at 10:00am Burns Cowboy Shop Carmel opened it's doors for business.
Incredible, just 9 days prior the old tenants were removing the last of their belongings. The Burns Team does it again!!!!
Wayland, Matt, Jake, Braydan and Scott pulled off a miracle!!! The build out is spectacular, new flooring, completely repainted, new dressing room, walls removed and walls added, custom leather wrapped counters, custom glass showcases, all done in just over a week!!!
US Open begins tomorrow, with practice rounds taken all this week, Carmel and the Monterey Peninsula is swarming with golfers, media, and fans.
As I sit here happily exhausted I think, dreams really do come true....all it takes is knowing what you want, be intentional, feel the feeling of receiving your desires and take action when the people, circumstances, and events begin to come towards you with lighting speed. When I read "the Universe Loves Speed" it stuck with me...I either want it or I don't. If I want it I go after it and it races towards me.
I meet successful people every day, the top 2%. They rarely dicker over price, they either like it or they don't. They are intentional, the go after it and rarely do they experience buyers remorse. I love to learn from successful people, their ability to get what they want astounds me. They seem to have a focus and a clear vision of the direction of their dreams. And they don't sweat the small stuff.
Much appreciation fills my heart as I sit here in bed, barley able to keep my eyes open, excited for tomorrow, thankful for all the outstanding people I met today, and a deep happiness for life and all the fun opportunities that are created by thoughts, feelings and emotions.
"Always dream and shoot higher than you know you
can do. Don't bother just to be better than
your contemporaries or predecessors.
Try to be better than yourself."

"People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither
does bathing — that's why we recommend it daily."
— Zig Ziglar: Author and motivational speaker
I love Zig's quote!
I once heard that you should work on yourself as much as you work on your job. When I started working on me daily an enormous shift began to occur in my life. My old mind set thought I could change others for my sake as well as theirs. Smiling now I realize how much easier it is to just be in charge of me, I am a big enough project to undertake:-)!
Few people think, they exist. I study people who think. Braydan and I were talking about this subject the other day he said, "remembering is not thinking" how true!! We hear something and remember it and it rolls over and over in our mind. A song pops into our head and it plays over and over, we did not think the song, the song was previous work that we keep playing over and over again.
Thinking is imagination, creating, finding a way to achieve ones goals, dreams, and aspirations. Taking action, and following that inner intuition that brings awareness of the possibilities. People circumstances and events begin to show up, aligning all that is needed for your pre-thought desire.
Living in the magic of life!! Starts with THINKING DAILY, just like bathing, if you don't take the time for it your life really stinks:-)
In Las Vegas at the Barrel Race watching incredible talented horses and riders, also selling some fun, cool, equipment. Come and visit us at the South Point Equestrian Center, Las Vegas Nevada through this Sunday.
Happy Trails,

Thinking is imagination, creating, finding a way to achieve ones goals, dreams, and aspirations. Taking action, and following that inner intuition that brings awareness of the possibilities. People circumstances and events begin to show up, aligning all that is needed for your pre-thought desire.
Living in the magic of life!! Starts with THINKING DAILY, just like bathing, if you don't take the time for it your life really stinks:-)

Rock and Hawk
Here is a symbol in which
Many high tragic thoughts
Watch their own eyes.
This gray rock, standing tall
On the headland, where the seawind
Lets no tree grow,
Earthquake-proved, and signatured
By ages of storms: on its peak
A falcon has perched.
I think, here is your emblem,
To hang in the future sky;
Not the cross, not the hive,
But this; bright power, dark peace;
Fierce consciousness joined with final
Disinterestedness;Life with calm death; the falcon's
Realist eyes and act
Married to the massive
Mysticism of stone,
Which failure cannot cast down
Nor success make proud.
~ Robinson Jeffers ~
The poet Robinson Jeffers was born in 1887 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and moved to California with his family as a teenager. After marrying in 1913, he and his wife settled in Carmel, California. In 1919, he began building a stone cottage overlooking Carmel Bay which he called Tor House, after the craggy knoll, or "tor" on which it was built. Nearby, Jeffers also built a forty-foot stone structure—Hawk Tower—selecting and laying each stone himself.
Both the Tower and the coastal landscape figure strongly in Jeffers’s poetry, much of which celebrates the awesome beauty of the hills and ravines that plunged into the Pacific. His poem "Rock and Hawk" is a perfect example of his belief in the dramatic, and often tragic, power of nature:
As I near the time I spread my wings and fly to Carmel California, I too, "celebrate the awesome beauty of the hills and ravines that plunged into the Pacific."

Good Morning and Great Day
"How do you see your life...big or small...meaningful or inconsequential...as a participant or a spectator...flowing with the universe or fighting to just stay in mediocrity, The Choice Is Yours...Change your thinking, so you can change your results and you will change your life"
Breathe in the new thoughts that encourage you live from your genius...
It's up to you to create the flow of your day. When you have the focus to be present to your feelings and emotions then you will automatically have a heightened awareness. You will be present to the Nowness Of The Moment rather than being stuck somewhere in the past or futurizing about some imaginary belief about an imaginary outcome!
Your life always takes on the dimension of how you think and believe. Check in and see where your consciousness is and where you are creating from. Are you in sync with the harmony of your spirit to produce greatness or are you in the dark shadows of self-sabotaging behaviors? The choice is yours. A mindset of knowing what you want will produce the actions that will get you to your desired destination.
Let me remind you of one thing that perhaps you may have forgotten. YOU ARE FREAKING AWESOME!! There is no one like you. You have a gift that is so unique and special that when you live from it and share it powerfully the infectious spirit that emanates from you will spread a glow of brilliance everywhere you go. Let go of mediocre thinking and tap into the genius in you. See the road ahead as one of opportunity rather than worn out BS. Know that in this very moment all things are possible if you would just get out of your own way. Capture the spirit of your true essence and claim your destiny. It's time to get that you are the creator of reality so create one that you love playing in!
It's YOUR day...MAKE IT A GREAT ONE
