Tipsy Tuesday

"What we think determines what happens
to us, so if we want to change our lives,
we need to stretch our minds."
— Dr. Wayne Dyer: Self-development author and speaker

Stretching our minds means getting out of our comfort zone and thinking. I had a client tell me the other day that responsibility means, being able to respond. I thought about it for a second and I thought, how true! When faced with decisions, problems, tragedy, being responsible is being able to respond. Being able to respond and make a decision makes us a responsible person, or lack of response makes us an irresponsible person.

My tip this Tuesday is be RESPONSIBLE!

Responsively,

Funny Friday

The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not. - Mark Twain

So True!!! What is up with that.

Imagine if you could eat anything you wanted and it made you healthier, skinnier, and more beautiful. Consume drinks with sugar and alcohol only to wake up with tight eyes, no swelling and a flat stomach. Exercise would make you fat, and all those people that were addicted to running, biking and going to the gym weighed 300 lbs. plus!!!
Oh and by the way the older you got the better you looked!!

Designing my next life, and of course, men will have the babies:-)

Happy Healthy Trails,

Zen Horse

Training Tip of the Week:
By Clinton Anderson

Respect without fear.

You want your horse to respect you, but not fear you. If a horse is afraid of the person training him, he'll spend more time worrying about the situation and trying to escape it than trying to figure out how to do the lesson. People are the exact same way. It's nearly impossible to learn something if you're not relaxed and comfortable. You can't act like a Barbarian and immediately start whacking the horse because he isn't giving you the response you're looking for. You have to establish a starting point and then build from there. Once you've made your horse feel uncomfortable and you know he's trying to find the right answer, maintain the pressure and wait for him to figure out the correct response. Remember, you don't want your horse to be disrespectful, and you don't want him to be frightened of you. Your goal is to get respect without fear.

Napoleon Hill - inspirational words of wisdom

Inspire Me

Attitude

There once was a man who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror,
And noticed he had only three hairs on his head.
'Well,' he said, 'I think I'll braid my hair today.'
So he did and he had a wonderful day.
The next day he woke up, looked in the mirror
And saw that he had only two hairs on his head.
'H-M-M,' he said, 'I think I'll part my hair down the middle today.'
So he did and he had a grand day.

The next day he woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed
That he had only one hair on her head.
'Well,' he said, 'today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail.'
So he did, and he had a fun, fun day.
The next day he woke up, looked in the mirror and
Noticed that there wasn't a single hair on his head.
'YAY!' he exclaimed. 'I don't have to fix my hair today!'

Attitude is everything.

Be kinder than necessary,
For everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
Live simply,
Love generously,
Care deeply,
Speak kindly,
And pray continually.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...

It's about learning to dance in the rain.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Lynn Follstad one of our great Burns Team Members sent me this. She is always kinder than necessary. Thanks Lynn for having a wonderful Attitude and sharing this with me so I can share it with many as well.

Happy to Pass on the Positive,

Danna

Rave Reviews and Recpies

I down loaded this song of Brenn Hills called: Simple Things. Here are the lyrics.

It is a fantastic song, I give it RAVE REVIEWS!!!

All the simple things in life
Like the colors of the fall
Like an eagle on the wind
High above the canyon wall
Like the sound of the river
Runnin' wild in the spring
We are here but for a while
To learn to love the simple things

Like a baby when he smiles
For the first time in his life
Cradled gently in the arms
Of my beautiful wife
Growin' stronger by the day
And the change that every morning brings
He is here but for a while
To learn to love the simple things

And it's so easy to lose track
And never take the time to see
All the simple things we have
Are gifts from God for you and me

Like the memories we share
Years and miles cannot erase
Like the sound of your sweet voice
Like the smile on your face
Like the promise of tomorrow
In a land where freedom rings
We are here but for a while
To learn to love the simple things
Learn to love the simple things

Enjoying the "Simple Things",

Dream Big

As I sit here happily exhausted I marvel at the wonderful day I just experienced. Wednesday Oct.6th.
Today at Burns Cowboy Shop we helped doctors from Boston pick out beautiful wearable works of art in boots and fine leather jackets.
We served a duchess from Scotland and a group of her wonderful friends.
A family from Australia purchased treasures in leather, first stating they wished they hadn't stubbled upon the place, only to replace that regret with, how happy they were to have found us and how much they loved all the wonderful items they get to return home with.
The founder of an incredibly successful company stops by our shop almost daily because he loves our shop and the high quality of merchandise we provide, especially our unique hand crafted leather belts, silver buckles and accessories.
People from China, Spain, Russia, Denmark, France, Italy, Australia, Scotland, all marveling at the wonders of a leather shop on Ocean Ave. in Carmel-by-the-Sea California, first founded in a small rural Utah town way back in 1876 by my Great-Great-Grandfather Miles Lamoni Burns.

He had a dream, little did he know what would become of it 5 generations later.

1) The bandage was wound around the wound.

2) The farm was used to produce produce.

3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.

4) We must polish the Polish furniture.

5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.

6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.

7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time

to present the present.

8) A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.

9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.

10) I did not object to the object.

11) The insurance was invalid for the invalid.

12) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.

13) They were too close to the door to close it.

14) The buck does funny things when the does are present.

16) To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.

17) The wind was too strong to wind the sail.

18) After a number of injections my jaw got number.

19) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.

20) I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.

21) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

English: interesting language.

There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor

pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or

french fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads,

which aren't sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we

explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing

rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a

pig. And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing,

grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham?

If the plural of tooth is teeth,

why isn't the plural of booth beeth?

One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese?

One index, 2 indices?

Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If

you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them,

what do you call it? If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?

If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?

In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital?

Ship by truck and send cargo by ship?

Have noses that run and feet that smell?

How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and

a wise guy are opposites?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your

house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by

filling it out and in which, an alarm goes off by going on.

People, not computers invented English, and it reflects the creativity

of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all. That is why,

when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out,

they are invisible.

P.S.

Why doesn't "buick" rhyme with "quick"?

The magic of words...

Inspire Me

My friend Jacqueline sent me the following quote, which I have been pondering for days, wanted to share it with you.

Great minds discuss ideas:
Average minds discuss events:
Small minds discuss people:

Wow, how true are those three lines??!!!

I think about stages of my life when I thought with a small mind, when the only real thoughts that ran through my head were about people. What they thought about me, what I thought about them, what gossip or information I could share with others. Relationships with family and friends were spent discussing people. Who was getting divorced, who was pregnant, who got hurt, who lost weight, who gained weight, who cheated on who, who got a new car, who got a new house, who lost their job, who won American Idol....etc, etc, etc. Now discussing people includes, texting, facebooking, twitting, etc, etc, etc. There are thousands of ways to use the small minds discussing people. The treadmill of the small mind....using your 60,000 thoughts a day to think about people.

Then there are the times I use my Average Mind;
Who won the game? Did you hear about the hurricane that is to hit the east coast? Remember that great band that played at dinner the other night? Wasn't our trip to Europe incredible.

Great Mind Discussions:
What do you think about opening a shop in beautiful Carmel-by-the-Sea California? We should put together a committee to find funding for the projects. How can we organize that space to get more use out of it? How can I organize my time to better serve my needs as well as my business? We need more training as a team, how should we implement it? I have the best idea! I was thinking last night and I think we can..... I love to work with like minded people and accomplish extra ordinary things.

5 years ago, I said....I smile when I think about where I'll be in 5 years. I am smiling!!!! and excited what the next 5 years will bring.

Inspired about finding ways to use my mind to enjoy this GREAT LIFE!!!

Namaste,

Danna
